When this song was released I understood that it was such a deep song, but three years later this hits different. I've never had so many friends until I started high school, last year, where I met people who don't consider me weird and accept me for who I am. I spent six months going out with them and having fun, then Covid stroke in Italy. I turned 15 in quarantine. I faced so many teenage problems alone in my room. Exactly when I started to live a normal life everything stopped. But I have had the occasion to talk with other people who aren't classmates, and I started to chat with a girl I had met the previous year and was born on the same day I was born; I already had a good relationship with her, but we developed it and became best friends, all this in quarantine. We got to know each other well online, and I am glad I had a person who could always listen to me back then. We saw again for the first time in June, after the lockdown, for our birthday party, and also a friend of her was invited. I became friends with him as well. Now it's September 7th and I just came back from a weekend in my house by the beach with them, who are now my truest and best friends. We spent two wonderful days hanging out, swimming, laughing, eating, sleeping togheter. This song is the perfect soundtrack to this. I will listen to this again in 2030, when Covid will be over and I'll be 25, remembering how good life turned out to be after I met those two people, remembering our adventures and the good times.

this song opens up a plethora of emotions, but mostly nostalgia. when this song was first released, i thought it was a nice tune and not much more. six years later, i still like the tune but i pay attention to the words. it pulls at my heartstrings because the lyrics ring so true: love IS hard, especially when you’re young and in love and impulsive and reckless and unsure of yourself. not sure if it gets better with time but here’s to love becoming easier. healthier. better.
