HISTORY
The band was founded in Los Angeles in 2004 as a trio featuring Abigail Chapin, Lily Chapin and their sister Jessica Craven. After the release of their first full-length record, the Lake Bottom LP in 2008, Jessica left the band to start a family. Abigail and Lily, now a duo, recorded and released the aptly titled follow-up Two to critical acclaim.
The Chapin Sisters spent 2010 touring the world with She & Him (M. Ward & Zooey Deschanel), pulling double duty as part of the band and performing nightly as the opening act.
Don't Love You
The Chapin Sisters Lyrics

If my eyes are glazed with starlight
If my lips are stained wine red
You might make me lose my head
I might smile or even kiss you, bat my eyes like I forgive you
But I don't
No, it's not me
Oh my darling, I don't love you
And I'm not about to start
Don't adore you, won't die for you
Not afraid you'll break my heart
You've been talkin like I need you
Like I'd do anything to keep you to myself
But it's not true
Hardly even think of you
And if I call you and I'm lonely
Just remember that it's only just a habit
It's not me
You're so easy, don't you see?
Oh my darling, I don't love you
And I'm not about to start
Don't adore you, won't die for you
Not afraid you'll break my heart
And if you're thinkin' you might woo me
Say you're true to mine, you'll soon see
I'll just slip away like sand, runnin' from your hands
So if you see me out past midnight and I whisper that I just might
Just remember that's not me
I don't love you don't you see?
Oh my darling, I don't love you
And I'm not about to start
Don't adore you, won't die for you
Not afraid you'll break my heart
The lyrics of The Chapin Sisters' "Don't Love You" revolve around a woman who is not in love with the man pursuing her. The woman is often seen out after midnight, possibly under the influence of alcohol, and the man assumes that she is interested in him. However, the woman clarifies that it is not her true feelings that are leading her to interact with him, but the effects of alcohol. She may smile or even kiss the man in a drunken stupor, but it is not out of genuine affection.
It becomes apparent that the woman is not interested in a serious relationship with the man. She does not love him, nor does she harbor any desire to start loving him. The man is persistent and attempts to woo her with sweet talk, but she is not convinced. Even when she calls him out of loneliness, it is more out of habit than a genuine need for companionship.
The lyrics of "Don't Love You" explore the theme of emotional detachment and the inability to genuinely connect with someone. The woman cannot give her heart to the man pursuing her, despite his best efforts. It is a poignant portrayal of someone who has closed themselves off to love.

If you see me out past midnight
If you happen to see me in the middle of the night
If my eyes are glazed with starlight
If my eyes have a dreamy, distant look to them
If my lips are stained wine red
If my lips are colored like red wine
You might make me lose my head
You could make me lose control and act impulsively
I might smile or even kiss you, bat my eyes like I forgive you
I might act flirtatious and forgiving towards you
But I don't
But that's not really how I feel
No, it's not me
No, that's not my true self
It's the wine, oh don't you see?
It's the effect of alcohol, can't you tell?
Oh my darling, I don't love you
Oh my dear, I don't have romantic feelings towards you
And I'm not about to start
And it's unlikely I will develop any
Don't adore you, won't die for you
I don't idolize you and won't risk my life for you
Not afraid you'll break my heart
I'm not worried you will hurt me emotionally
You've been talkin like I need you
You've been speaking as if I depend on you
Like I'd do anything to keep you to myself
Like I'd go to any lengths to keep you close to me
But it's not true
But that's not the case
Hardly even think of you
I rarely even have you on my mind
And if I call you and I'm lonely
And if I reach out to you because I feel lonely
Just remember that it's only just a habit
Just keep in mind that it's a reflexive action
It's not me
It doesn't reflect my true feelings
You're so easy, don't you see?
You're so gullible, can't you tell?
And if you're thinkin' you might woo me
And if you're entertaining the possibility of winning me over
Say you're true to mine, you'll soon see
Say that you're faithful and sincere, you'll find out soon enough
I'll just slip away like sand, runnin' from your hands
I'll just distance myself from you abruptly, leaving you feeling powerless
So if you see me out past midnight and I whisper that I just might
So if you happen to see me late at night and I suggest that I'm considering something
Just remember that's not me
Remember that's not a genuine reflection of who I am
I don't love you don't you see?
I don't have romantic feelings towards you, can't you tell?

I think these girls nailed the harmony the best since the Everly Brothers originally sang this... at least of all the times I've heard it covered.

I was born in 1944. As a teenager, the very first live rock and roll show I ever saw was The Everly Brothers, in Massachusetts, probably in 1961. I remember that there were two other male guitarists on the stage, playing along with Don & Phil. I LOVED that show! But you know what? I think the Chapin Sisters do a GREAT job of coming quite close to the "original." Plus, they look absolutely gorgeous! Full marks to The Chapin Sisters!!

Been an Everly fan all my life. Greatest harmony siblings ever. Got all their stuff. Saw them many times. Messed up a lot they did with the fighting and badly advised too with some marvellous material never released as well as classics like Dream and Claudette on reverse sides of a 45.. How much more they could have achieved When they came back they never got on and only made 3 albums. Saw these girls names on their site. Have to say Love Hurts by them is THE BEST I have ever heard by anyone.
