They released their debut album in 2011. They consisted of Kingsley, Pop, Owen, Kevin and Scott.
Their unique blend of politically charged, feedback infused, loud and intense indie rock music has won them just as many friends as enemies over the last few years and after being initially hyped and championed for their chaotic and sometimes disturbing stage shows in 2009 by the likes of the NME and Radio 1, to being forgotten about and presumed deceased in 2010 whilst hard at work recording their album, and to being remembered again last year on the back of the aforesaid debut album "Burn Your Town." ...and then forgotten again after thousands of copies of it were destroyed in a warehouse fire during the 2011 riots.
Their influences were the truth, politicians, royalty, war, cruelty, injustice, poverty, famine and humanity.
The band formally split in 2013 after 7 years together.

Anxiety
The Chapman Family Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
All people to blame, I wont die for you, too necessary
And they say your best isnt good enough
And they say your best isnt good enough
And to hear yours, and to hear yours
And they say your best isnt good enough
I feel I did the best I can before I was exposed
But she says she still believes in love
And they say your best isnt good enough
And they say your best isnt good enough
Wasted my time, wasted my time
I know Ive relied on you Ive had it too easy
I know all the people to blame
Im not gonna die for you, its so so unnecessary
And they say your best isnt good enough
And they say your best isnt good enough
And to hear yours, and to hear yours
And they say your best isnt good enough.
The Chapman Family's song Anxiety is a reflection of the pressure that can come from others to perform at a certain level of expectations. The first line, "I know I'll rely on you too easy," shows that the singer is aware that they may have relied on someone else too much, perhaps to a point where they feel they cannot function without them. However, the line "All people to blame, I won't die for you, too necessary" suggests that they feel as though others are placing too much importance on their success and that they refuse to sacrifice their own well-being for it.
The repeated line "And they say your best isn't good enough" symbolizes the constant criticism and pressure that the singer is feeling. They've tried their best but are still being told it's not good enough. The following line, "I feel I did the best I can before I was exposed," suggests that they're feeling vulnerable and exposed to criticism, as if their flaws have been laid bare. The final line, "All this anxiety it does nothing for me," is a plea for help; the singer realizes that their anxiety is not benefiting them and that they need to find a way to cope with it.
Overall, Anxiety is a powerful song that captures the feelings of inadequacy and pressure that many people feel in their lives. It shows how difficult it can be to cope with these feelings and how important it is to reach out for help when needed.

There's probably no one out there listening now. Saw these guys 3 times in Manchester. Last time must have been 3 or 4 years ago but still can't stop watching this. Much missed.

Sounded like an excellent night out. Add Airship and Chapel Club to that line up and it's perfect to illustrate what I was listening to 9 years ago.

This time, last week, I hadn't heard of the Chapman Family but went to see them a couple of days ago in York and got the album straight after. Brilliant stage presence and a dark and demure indie-post-punk sound that's so tight you can't get a cigarette paper between the four band members. After a long absence of going to gigs, I was reminded what clever, well-crafted live music was all about.
