1) The Chefs were a Brighton-based punk/pop group during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The band consisted of Helen McCookerybook, James McCallum, Russell Greenwood and Carl Evans. They were signed to Brighton's Attrix Records, which released a four-track EP "Sweetie" in September 1980 and "24 Hours" in 1981. These records were followed by a version of "Femme Fatale" (released under the band name "Skat"). The Chefs then split in 1981/82.
2) The Chefs were a group from the US midwest who put out the now classic deep funk cut 'Mr Machine' on Progress Records in 1973.
