Overall Meaning

The lyrics of The Chemical Brothers' song "Dissolve" are simple but powerful, conveying a sense of longing and yearning for connection. The repeated use of the name "Caroline" suggests that this is a person the singer desires, with the plea "will you walk on these fields of mine?" indicating a desire for intimacy and closeness. The use of the word "dissolve" suggests a sense of letting go, of surrendering oneself to a greater force or power, and the repetition of the name Caroline adds to the idea of losing oneself in another person.

The sparse, repetitive nature of the lyrics enhances the hypnotic quality of the music, with the repetition of the name Caroline acting almost like a mantra, drawing the listener ever deeper into the song. The use of electronic instrumentation and beats creates a sense of momentum and urgency, as if the singer is desperately trying to create a connection with the object of his desire. The lyrics and music of "Dissolve" work together to create a powerful sense of longing and desire, of wanting to dissolve into another person's presence and become one with them.

Dear Sirs,
I want to see you in ye olde Germany this year... like the last years before^^
Last time in 2007 and first time in 1999... guess... think about... its a little bit to less and too early for "once upon the time..."-stories to my childs. I´m now almost 40! Together with Underworld, FatboySlim, The Prodigy, DepecheMode, Kraftwerk, Moby, ... Loveparade and Mayday, you´ve shaped me since the early 90´s.
So... please stay in Berlin/Germany this summer. I guess, I´m not the lonely german fan.

Thank you in advance.

Sincerly.

I did my PhD in crystal engineering, a fairly new scientific discipline highly focused on the crystalline solid state of materials. I have been a massive Chemical Brothers fan since when I was 13 years old. It is quite obvious that songs such as 'Dissolve' and 'Saturate' were vital during my PhD years. In fact, dissolution and saturation are critical operations/steps that will lead to the formation of crystals. Last year, on this date (25/06/2019) I submitted my PhD thesis after having succesfully defended my research. I think I must say a massive thank you to The Chemical Brothers for being an important source of inspiration since my youth, and for being great studying/working mates: there is nothing better than setting up crystallisation experiments or running X-ray diffraction analyses while playing their songs... Thanks Tom and Ed for your support, especially during those tough moments experienced by any PhD student!
