Under Neon Lights
The Chemical Brothers Lyrics

Under neon lights
Under neon lights
Got no husband
Got no wife
All I want
All I want
All I want
Is this really all I want?

Let it go, let it go
Let it go, let it go
Let it go, let it go
Let it go, let it go

And she moves to suicide
In and under neon lights
Got no husband, got no wife
All I want's a view tonight
All I want's a view tonight
All I want's a view tonight
All I want's a view tonight
All I want's a view tonight

Let it go, let it go
Let it go, let it go
Let it go, let it go
Let it go, let it go

Eye to eye, face to face
I guess this is Heaven
Got no pride, got no name
I guess this is Heaven
I guess I'm in Heaven
Oh I guess I'm in Heaven

And she moves to suicide
In and under neon lights
Got no husband, got no wife
All I want's a view tonight
All I want's a view tonight
All I want's a view tonight
All I want's a view tonight
All I want's a view tonight
Got no husband, got no wife
All I want's a view tonight
All I want's a view tonight
All I want's a view tonight

As she moves to suicide
Under neon lights
Got no husband
Got no wife
All I want
All I want

All I want
Is this really all I want?

Overall Meaning

The Chemical Brothers' song "Under Neon Lights" is a track that deeply explores the effects of so-called "worldly pleasures" and how they can lure one towards a destructive path. The song is mainly about a woman who is lost and looking for something, something that she can't quite put her finger on, and so she seeks it in the flashing neon lights of the night. These neon lights represent the temporary thrills and the superficial joys of life that she indulges in as a form of escapism, and it appears as if she's not happy with her life, so she is hoping to find it in the lights above her.

The lyrics bring out the idea that amidst the hustle and bustle of life, it is common for people to get lost in their desires and set aside what really matters. The chorus repeats the phrase "Let it go" several times, possibly as a call to let go of these fleeting pleasures and focus on more meaningful things. The line "Eye to eye, face to face, I guess this is heaven," suggests that ultimately the person will find what she is seeking when she stops looking outward and starts looking inward.

Overall, "Under Neon Lights" is a commentary on the idea that the rush of adrenaline we get from the neon pleasures of life can only last a short while, and we need to instead focus on what brings us lasting happiness.

The Traveler

As a fan for years I feel this is one group that truly stays original to who they have always been and didn't really change anything about their sound and style . Dig the track , very obscure and ahead again of the current state of music .

Luck GET

Chemical brothers are bringing back electro and techno back to where it's at.

Davestermatically

I feel like they've been in holiday and are getting back to what they do best. Very happy with the tunes so far. I've got my Chems back!

Tom Lute

this is NUTS. Fantastic collaboration.

M Krump

They should do some real 7.1 sound system music.
I mean a full album thinking for 360 degrees sound effects. They are probably the only team who can do it.
A full ears experience.

PIG MILK

Max cooper does some of this

Brandon Emerson

What da fuck ?
There's no need to put out any specific special release for a better quality sounding box set...
These guys do exactly that ..with practically every piece of work they publish out to us...
Anything that has "the chemical brothers" on it...
Or...
Put on any of their albums, b-sides, or collaborations on a 360 degree, surround sound, high quality set up ...& You be utterly taken away to some place where only flowers only can dream to go...

They did it when they mixed the audio for their record-documentary film: "Don't Think". Anyway, I agree!
