In the Midnight Hour
The Chocolate Watch Band Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm gonna wait till the midnight hour
That's when my love comes tumbling down
I'm gonna wait till the midnight hour
When there's no one else around

I'm gonna take you girl and hold you
And do all the things I told you
In the midnight hour, in the midnight hour
Yes, I am, oh, yes, I am

I'm gonna wait till the stars come out
And see that twinkle in your eyes
I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love begins to shine

You're the only girl I know
That really loves me so in the midnight hour
Oh, yeah, in the midnight hour
Yeah, alright, play it for me one time now

Just you and I, oh, baby, hah
Just you and I, nobody around, baby
Just you and alright, you know what?

I'm gonna hold you in my arms

Just you and I, oh yeah, in the midnight hour
Oh, baby, in the midnight hour

My favorite version of midnight hour by the watchband sensational !!

Oh man I was digging on this back in the early 80s when pulled this up at a local thrift. The singer is badass in a Jagger way, and the band is tripping!

@mickeymousebiker1

Yeah! Bring it all back! Let's all do the Shinga-ling and the Booga-loo! This version has it all: great bass line, simple but funky guitar riffs, and great keyboards! It flat-out grooves! Nothing out there now can touch this!

@caroltavares84

one of the best psych bands ever

Heard this back in the late 2010s. One of my favorite discoveries.

@mickeymousebiker1

This one has always moved just sooooo right! For those rare few who did The Booga-loo and The Shinga-ling on New Year's Eve 2013. For all the scene-setters who are still out there in 2014.

@The12GaugeGroove

and them especially bad cats still kicking it in 2023... jam on

Here's a somewhat similar story,.. The Sons of Champlin are a San Francisco based band. When they changed their name to just, "The Sons," they put out an album stating that on the cover. The Sons were never very popular outside of the S.F. Bay Area and Portland, Oregon. I was back East in Evansville Indiana in the Winter of 1972 and was going through a friend's record collection. I was amazed to come across that album. When I pulled it out, I asked what he thought of the group... "I don't know, I have never played the album," he told me. After I spun it on the turntable, he became a fan.
