I really wonder if this song is about Sumerian "Inanna's Descent"?
I mean Sera is way into esoteric stuff, and the video has all the markers--the Heroine going into the Underworld looking for the Death Mother, those jewells that She offers Bloofer Sera could be the ones Inanna had to remove at the gates coming down...I mean, there are exactly Seven death-rockers watching the whole process from their spirit-world, like the Anunaki Judges in Inanna's Descent...
But until I can make out the song lyrics better, I can't know how related Gemini's "Heroine's Descent" is to the Original heroine's descent, ha ha.
"Heaven Through The Back Door" could be about how the journey made Inanna the Queen of Heaven And Earth...or maybe it's a nod to the Orphic and Kore and Elusian Mystery Rites, where you go through Hell to get to Heaven...(which all of em could be telling the same story either way)
But I think the video is consciously referencing the Sumerian or Babylonian story...
Anyway. Fuck my history lesson. Bad ass video. Lovely song. Love the renaissance of this aesthetic of music, Love that Sera has a personal philosophy that matches her aesthetic and ain't just another fashion victim, and i hope we can refrain from going too over-the-top again and catching the interest of commercial publishing companies and corny ass rural high school kids.
