Wait a Minute

Can I take a picture here can I
Have a second just to take in all the sights
All the southern stars and northern lights
Wait a minute can we put aside the past
Can we make it something last for life
Say wrong say right tonight
Wait a minute can you play that song again
It makes me think about a friend can I
Have a second can you take me back in time
Close my eyes and hear her voice her rhyme
Wait a minute can I say I'm sorry now
I admit I don't know how or why
Say wrong say right tonight
I need everything that you need
I breathe the same air that you breathe
Say wrong say right tonight
I need everything that you need
I breathe the same air that you breathe
And I've been wrong now for so long
I'm just trying to get it right
In "Wait A Minute", The Clarks offers a nostalgic and reflective journey that takes us back to special moments in our lives. In the first stanza, the singer pleads with the driver to stop the car so he can take a picture of his surroundings and take in the beautiful sights, which include the "southern stars and northern lights". He desires to stay in the present moment and forget about the past, in hopes that they can make something last for life.
In the second stanza, the singer asks the DJ to play a song that reminds him of a friend and takes him back in time so he can hear her voice and rhyme. He then asks if he can say sorry for something he has done wrong, although he doesn't know how or why he did it. The chorus repeats the phrase "Say wrong say right tonight," suggesting that we should live in the moment and enjoy it without worrying about right or wrong.
Overall, the song is about living in the present, indulging in nostalgia, and finding peace in the little moments in life. It teaches us to appreciate what we have and deal with past baggage so that our future can be better.
