The Coldest Heart
The Classic Crime Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A couple of years and I'm a silhouette
My halo is broken now, and I'm all that's left
I hate to disappoint but it's the way things went
I was blind to the things I did and after what was said
Tie up these loose ends 'cause voices are callin' me out
I've got the solution: you can feed me to something
That is leaving this town
Whoa-o-o-o
I'm losing hope
There's a hole in my heart that's been cut out of stone
Whoa-o-o-o
Cold comes, cold goes
Could you fill this hole, 'cause I can't do it alone

A couple of tears and I'm a broken mess
The sadness has taken me far too deep in regret.
So sing me a song about something good
My heart's on the threshing floor and I've torn everything open

I could...
I used to believe in, some kind of feeling
That could change everything I thought I knew
But that door is closed and my heart feels like it's frozen
If you hear me, I can't feel you.

Whoa-o-o-o
I'm losing hope
There's a hole in my heart that's been cut out of stone
Whoa-o-o-o
Cold comes, cold goes
Could you fill this hole, 'cause I can't do it alone

The coldest heart
Can be brought to life
When it's thrown into the fire of goodbyes
When it's thrown into the fire of goodbyes
When it's thrown into the fire of goodbyes
When it's thrown into the fire of goodbyes

Whoa-o-o-o
I'm losing hope
There's a hole in my heart that's been cut out of stone
Whoa-o-o-o
Cold comes, cold goes
Could you fill this hole, 'cause I can't do it alone
Could you fill this hole, 'cause I can't do it alone

And I've got the coldest heart
I've got the coldest heart

I've got the coldest heart
I've got the coldest heart

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Classic Crime's song The Coldest Heart are emotionally charged and introspective, as they describe the artist's heartbreak and sense of isolation. The first verse begins with the singer acknowledging that they have become disconnected from the world around them, becoming little more than a silhouette. The next line reveals that their "halo" has been shattered, symbolizing a loss of innocence or purity, and that all that remains is their empty core. The singer then reflects on their own flaws, recognizing that they have made mistakes that they now regret. They implore the listener to help them rectify these issues and fill the void in their heart that they themselves cannot fill.

In the second verse, the singer is stuck in a state of despair, unable to extract themselves from the grief that has consumed them. They call out for someone to help them find even the smallest glimmer of hope, and to help them rebuild their shattered heart. Although they previously believed that they could change everything they knew, they now acknowledge that this is no longer possible, and their heart feels frozen and unresponsive. The final lines repeat the chorus, with the singer pleading for someone to fill the emptiness inside them, coming to terms with the fact that they cannot face the challenges they are facing on their own.

I had these lyrics in my mind for the last 11 years....

Jocelyne C

this song was the first one I heard from them. this song was the first time I found that I was missing out on these guys.

Janeen Tuesday

I am utterly shocked that this band hasn't become really popular yet like Anberlin did. (I believe TCC are better). But then again I guess that could be a good thing as it leaves less chance that they will end up selling out like a lot of my formerly favorite bands have done (The killers, Coldplay, Nickelback, etc). However, I still believe they deserve the recognition for being an awesome band!
