Lost in the Moment
The Clockworks Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

So you're sitting there flummoxed
Sifting through loans
cnd you're sick to your stomach
Of living alone
cnd then all of a sudden
You realise you've grown
Five years have gone by
cnd five years have flown
cnd you wait and you wait and you wait
**With a snare**
cnd your patience is thinning
cnd so is your hair
cnd the crowns almost gone
cnd your crowd have moved on
cnd you're left there to wonder
Where did it go wrong for you?

Get lost in the moment
We lost the moment

We've never been closer
Never been further
cnything private
Got tossed in the merger
Shook hands as partners
On a common mission
I'm starting to think
This was an acquisition
Now what does it matter?
Your world is polluted
When your favourite actor
Said something stupid
Now I'm glued to the box now
Glued to the box now

Sunset is rainchecked
Nature's under the cosh
Gosh I'm glued to the box Now
Glued to the box now
Give me a moment
The moment is lost

Get lost in the moment
We lost the moment

So you're sitting there flummoxed
cnd sifting through posts
cnd you're sick to your stomach
Concocting ripostes
I crave validation
From those I don't know
Their thirst is insatiable
Put on a show
Be everything always
Be nothing at all
Drown in humility
While you float in the pool
Be flawless be human
It's all an illusion
If you confusion
You knows who's at fault
It's you

Lost in the moment
We lost the moment

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of The Clockworks's song "Lost In The Moment" reflect a sense of disillusionment and societal pressures in the modern world. In the first verse, the singer describes a feeling of being stuck and dissatisfied with their current situation. They have come to realize that time has passed by quickly, and they find themselves wondering where they went wrong. The repetition of waiting emphasizes the frustration and impatience they feel.

The chorus, "Get lost in the moment, we lost the moment," suggests a longing for a deeper connection and genuine experiences in a world that seems to value superficiality and constant distraction. The line "We've never been closer, never been further" highlights the paradox of modern technology, which can both connect and disconnect people. The reference to anything private being "tossed in the merger" suggests that personal lives are being infiltrated and commodified for profit.

The second verse delves deeper into the theme of the loss of meaningful moments and the effects of media saturation. The singer reflects on the pollution of their own world, where even their favorite actor saying something foolish can disrupt their sense of peace. They feel trapped, glued to the television, and unable to fully engage with the natural world. The phrase "nature's under the cosh" implies that the environment is being threatened or controlled. The repeated line "Give me a moment, the moment is lost" portrays a longing for a genuine experience, but also highlights the fleeting nature of such moments.

In the final verse, the singer expresses a desire for validation and recognition from others, even from strangers on social media. They feel compelled to constantly present a perfect image, while also acknowledging the illusion it creates. The line "Be flawless, be human, it's all an illusion" encapsulates the pressure to simultaneously embody perfection and authenticity. The final line, "If you confusion, you knows who's at fault, it's you," suggests a self-awareness that the individual's own confusion and dissatisfaction may be partly their own doing.

Overall, "Lost In The Moment" explores themes of disillusionment, societal pressures, and the loss of genuine experiences in the modern world. It highlights the challenges of finding meaning and connection amidst a culture that values constant distraction and superficiality.

I cannot for the life of me understand why this band is not bigger? They're so good. The flip side of that is I've just bought tickets to see them in Bristol in February in a venue that holds 200. That is going to be mint 😎

@jonathangreen5804

It’s insane isn’t it that they’re not bigger. They’re unbelievably amazing! But as you say, means can see them in intimate venues. Got tickets for Wrexham, Manchester and Berlin. It’s fair to say I’m a huge fan lol
