Their collaboration with legendary songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller gave them a unique sound that was very humorous most of the time. Their first huge hit came with "Young Blood" and "Searchin'." They also had success with hits such as "Yakety Yak," "Charlie Brown," and "Little Egypt."
Gardner was still touring with The Coasters as late as 2005, although he is the only surviving original member. Gardner is now semi-retired and has handed the reins over to his son Carl Jr.
In 1987, they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, thus becoming the first group to be inducted (the other inductees at the time were solo acts). In 2000, they were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall Of Fame. In 2004, "Young Blood" was #414 on Rolling Stone's Top 500 Songs Of All Time. "Young Blood" and "Yakety Yak" were part of The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame's 500 Songs That Shaped Rock & Roll. The band's song "Down In Mexico" appears on the new film, Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof.

when i was 17(2013) i was very very skinny but i had a ton of muscle on me expecially in my thighs ( could leg press 900 lbs easily all day, can still do 700) but needless to say, being short aT 5,8. I DO NOT fit well in roller coasters.
i decided to go to wonderland for a work trip and go on the behemoth ride. As it was the newest attraction at the park and i was sick of top gun and vortex ( my 2 favs) .
well that ride has a very scary locking mechanism that only locks down over your legs from the front like a big golf tee huging your thighs with 2 oh shit handles attatched to it. my thighs were so big at the time that i was stuck between 2 of the locking knotches leaving a massive gap (about 2-3 inches) from my legs and the mechanism. i told one of the workers and they said it was fine after a half assed tug on the bar.
needless to say. on take off and over the first big loop i felt myelf lift out of the seat all the way to the knees. luckily i noticed quick enough and grabbed those handles like i had nothing else IN MY life. cause i didnt. and used the inertia from decending the loop to force myself back into the seat with gravity. i closed my eyes and held on for friggin dear life through the next 6 loops on the ride till end.
i dont touch roller coasters anymore. id rather skydive edge walk or ride a 1000 + cc motorcycle. i want the risk in my hands, not the hands of someone i dont know or equipment i didnt maintain myself.
