Geez. The best ending would have been finally finding a balance between all four factions.

I mean, The institute was the best way to save the world, but they only believed that with all that technology the only way to save the world was to replace the world, which was frigin ridiculous.

The Railroad wanted to free all synths from bonds, which didn't conflict with any of their goals.

The BOS's prime mandate was to collect as much technology as possible for the preservation and advancement of mankind. Guess what? Even if you strip it down and claim that Synths were only technology, then it would still be the job of the Brotherhood to protect them, even welcome them into their ranks (I'm guessing Maxson never reported any of this back to HQ)

The minutemen weren't even wrapped up in any of this as their main goal was to protect the settlements to the best of their ability (I didn't play new vegas even though I've heard their from there so forgive me if I don't know their mandate)

If they just put aside the pettiness. I mean, with the institute's technology, they could have actually started farms back up (as one is seen in fallout 4 to my knowlage (working on getting the game I'm excited for it)) cured every disease possible, even FEV as we saw a frigin backyard Super Mutant scientist was able to cure it with the meagre items he was able to obtain so don't tell me they couldn't have solved this problem in a few weeks with their equipment if they actually focused on it. They could cure ghoulification which is a serious problem in the fallout world. The Brotherhood, if they actually focused their efforts on a single enemy like the ferals and supers, then they could have easily cleared out the commonwealth within a few months with the man power they had. I understood why they couldn't in Fallout 3 because they didn't have the skilled manpower to plow through the DC ruins, But Fallout 4 theres no excuse! The Railroad would be around to protect the synths who were created at that moment as no more would be made. And the minutement.... well... they'd just keep protecting the settlements I guess.

But still, this unified effort would advance the commonwealth to the point where it's fortune would spill over to the other territories in the US! Hope would finally be spread through the world.

The minutemen ending is to me the best not just because all the factions remain but for a massive plethora of reasons. First because it allows the commonwealth to stand for itself, and not be forced to rely on external forces to fix its problems. It also sheds some light on the brotherhood. Yeah a majority of the soldiers and scribes range from passive to salty to mildly impressed. The senior officers mentioned above seem pleased regardless of who destroyed the institute. I see it as them being happy that humanity, outside of the brotherhood can stand together and make a difference and not just who gets the glory. Which is also were I have a problem with Maxson. Sure he may be a good military leader but he is 20 years old and way to young and inexperienced to have the level of power he does (but he does spare Danse so that's something). The brotherhood isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination but maybe of they learn to change their opinions with sound logic and information they could be a damn fine group of people. And finally the Railroad is happy, they got the Synths the freedom they deserved and yeah, shit that's just about all they wanted. I may be overthinking the brotherhood portion of my statement but who cares. All that being said I'm really interested in the next fallout. I say they should do it in a re-inhabited destroyed city and maybe have a quest of starting to transform the world back to what it was before the bombs fell.

IMO, the main reason the Commonwealth BoS is viewed so negatively is entirely because of Maxson's bigoted leadership and philosophy. The Capital Wastleland BoS wasn't nearly so bad by comparison, so I'd actually argue that while Maxson may be a good tactical leader, at just 20 years old he should NOT have full command of the BoS in the Commonwealth like he does, him being second-in-command to someone like, say, Sarah Lyons however would probably have worked out better than with Maxson in charge.

Actually, true peace between the factions is inherently impossible because their goals conflict -- the Brotherhood wants to destroy synths, while the Railroad wants to protect them. You may choose not to take part in their war, but the reality of the situation is that these two groups are fundamentally opposed to the others'. If they were ever in a room together, there would be a gunfight.

Funnier still is this "war" only breaks out because you do something to antagonize the Institute. You literally cannot get the Minutemen ending without making an enemy of the Institute first.

But I'm just picking at this point.

Watching this is depressing considering that on my first playthrough, I got really attached to the Railroad characters, and then accidentally betrayed them by accepting the "Tactical Thinking" quest, then being forced to murder all of my friends...

I betrayed the Brotherhood to the Institute after that, and had already torn their ranks to shreds on my own before finally getting to the final quest, and nuking the Prydwen to hell.

Now all my remaining friends hate me...

I got this ending on accident, I played the brotherhood up until the teleporter, and I built that with the railroad. But I got kicked out of the institute before I rescued the synths and Desdemona told me to get the minutemen to take down the institute cause they don't have the manpower (also the battle of bunker hill was really awkward cause no one was shooting at me)

I've only completed the main story once, and I was unsure of what faction to side with up until the Battle of bunker hill when I noticed that all three factions were also killing the people of the town... after that, it was a murder-fest. not a single BOS, Railroad agent, or Synth made it out of there. that is how I became the true Minutemen general lol.
It was a pretty cool experience to be honest, to see that do to what could have been a small bug, I was shown that all of those factions were A-holes

I remember getting this ending. It was BORING. No more wars, nothing. Soon enough, the Minutemen had declared war on the Railroad for harboring Synthetics. They were all killed. After that, we declared war on the Brotherhood, for threatening us, and harassing citizens. In the end, the Sole Survivor won.

I beat the main story and when I saw it all happen I was genuinely upset that I had to kill my characters son. Honestly it was a bit more personal because I tend to get absorbed in games. When the synth Shaun gave me the holotape he asked my character a favor. The only favor he's ever asked his father. Despite all the shit and war between the two I feel my character is obligated both as a human and a father to accept the synthetic Shaun.

there is actually dialogue that's suppose to go with that were they congratulate you for destroying the institute, even though it wasn't by their hands. As long as you were a part of the brotherhood in some way before you completed "a nuclear option," you are promoted to rank of sentinel and given t-60 jetpack mod. you can acess it through console commands or a mod.

In Fallout 1, if Rhombus dies, you get a fun little ending where the Brotherhood of Steel becomes a totalitarian dictatorship that hoardes technology and rules over the west coast.

Maybe the transition from Elder Lyons to Maxson was supposed to retell that story in greater detail

Operates as an organization composed of both voluntary citizien militia and permanent professional soldiers who effectively operate as a nation under one government currently run by the Leader of the Minutemen until a representative government can be established. Helped to bring about peace and prosperity to the Commonwealth, to create a state where everyone has more than enough food, everyone can receive an education, everyone can receive healthcare, where there is trade and safety.

Institute: Conducts human experiments using kidnapped humans from the Commonwealth. Kills people on the surface. Prevents a government from forming on the surface. Builds super advanced robots they don't have a use for who frequently go rogue without regular memory wipes (just like the droids in Star Wars). Has not done a single positive thing for people on the surface.

Yeah it REALLY seems like the Institute is humanity's best hope and the Minutemen. Oh wait, no, just the opposite.

There should have been a way to lead the institute and have the choice of changing their direction, even merging them with any of the other factions. Hand it over to the brotherhood or make it the science wing of the Minutemen. Keep it independent and use it to conquer the commonwealth. Would have been fun.

When I chose the Minutemen ending, I couldn't find Danse anywhere. But apparently scribe haylen is grateful that I spared him even though I never did blind betrayal. What I'm I doing wrong? Is there something I messed up on?

Yes, that's a bug that can occur if you destroy the Institute with the Minutemen before doing Blind Betrayal mission. In order to be able to find Danse you need to get Elder Maxson to give you the quest to find Danse, but if you have already eliminated the Institute Elder Maxson will refuse to chat with you. Strangely enough Scribe Haylen will suggest that you have completed the quest even if you haven't. Now that I think about it typically Danse should be in one of the settlements you last left him at, just remember that at the point you are at right now I don't think you can increase the relationship status to the maximum level with him, but he will continue to have his normal companion dialogue and stay in his power suit. You'll just miss the extra last talk when you choose to save him from Maxson.

I love the new peace mod. You can side with the Institute and leave all the other factions alive, though I kill Preston off with another mod every play through. I hate him. the Minutemen, and settlement baby sitting as well. I am playing a Silent Hill mod and enjoying not belonging to any factions so far.

The Minutemen ending allows you to kill every killable faction, or leave everyone besides the Institute alive. You need 8 settlements. Just get the ones that you can claim without a quest. I got about 17 settlements before even starting the Molecular level. Then it's just a more fun railroad ending.

if you wanted a quick ending and peacefull ending, after you go to institute for the first time, KILL FATHER immediately ,and talk to Preston/Sturges that Institute was a enemy, and after you have many shelter and defend The Castle from Synth horde, you and minutemen will destroy the institute and bring peace to the commonwealth

It's definitely not necessary to do all the side missions Preston Garvey gives you since those are practically never ending lol. First you need to avoid doing any of the missions that causes you to become direct enemies of another faction, then you need to do the Nuclear Option with the Minutemen and make sure to give the evacuation order while inside the Institute [ the Railroad will become enemies if you don't do this ].

Using console commands, you can start A New Dawn with this ending and Kells will say something like "Next time, ask us before you undertake a strategy like that" and get promoted to Sentinel.

I found out if you continue playing in Tht timeline eventually you will have to choose either to kill the railroad if you sided with BOS or kill the BOS if u sided with the railroad...Preston give u a mission to take them out with the artillery strike

+Mrchicity4lyfe Eliminating the Railroad and Brotherhood of Steel is completely option once you do the Nuclear Option with the Minutemen and remain peaceful with those factions. Taking out a named leader on the Prydwen will lead to "With Our Powers Combined" which starts with talking to Preston and then launching the artillery strike to destroy the Prydwen. The Railroad quests will revolve around having to save the synths who got out of the Institute after you give the evacuation orders - talk to Carrington to get those quests.

I always thought that maybe if we killed maxson and put dance as elder, we could work with the minutemen and the railroad, teleporting in, also blasting our way through AND using the sunts inside to start a civil war in the institute, and then, TAKE OVE THE INSTITUTE.
I'd watch as father looked upon his little paradise that turned into haven for the people he hated most as they banded together to take down his tyranny and the use the technology to advance the commonwealth.
After a Council was formed with minutemen bos and railroad members then there would finally be peace.
But, the brotherhood are way to stubborn for sth like that

Now I feel even badder about the ending I chose... Chose to stay in the Institute, destroy the Brotherhood and save the Railroad (glitches ;) ) but... Now I feel really bad about it x) I think I'll do a run where I try to find peace between the three factions in the game. But damn, Bethesda, you could have thought about other endings... I mean, the peaceful one is really hard to do and you have to have a foot in all of the factions for that... I would have wanted one where we can really arrange a diplomatic peace between all of them or something... Most of my characters are all about charism so I really hoped to find one like this...

I accidentally got the minutemen ending after leaving the institute before completing the Patriot Quest. Desdemona told me that she can’t take care of the institute and the Minutemen have an army. And all 3 factions appreciate the Minutemen, and your choice. Best part is that I didn’t have to destroy the brotherhood, railroad, or anyone besides the institute.

That's interesting. I'm pretty sure there are many ways to cause all three factions to be friendly as long as you don't do certain missions that would instantly cause you to become enemies towards a specific faction.

At first I thought this ending was best for me since I saw the railroad as just a delusional cult but I preferred the brotherhood once the railroad said they were enemies and that there was a plan to destroy the airship along with the children in the name of machines. It was then that I always destroy the railroad before even getting the mission to destroy it.

Excellent vid! This is very similar to the way I played... but I got the same end results. However, I cannot find Danse anywhere, seems like he vanished. The BoS woman at the police station said he's at the listening post and she brings him supplies, but I can't find him.

I was watching a video the other day and it appears that although Danse tells you he will stay at LP Bravo he actually walks to Sanctuary and stays there.

To be on the safe side I'd say no if you want the peaceful ending. But if you do really want to see what that mission is like I'd recommend doing a save before you start that mission continue on completing the mission just to see what happens and if you don't get the desired result revert back to that save point.

Ok so I was looking at fallout 4 wiki and I saw the side quest loose ends I read the detail walkthrough so it’s said that during the library Reprimed after convicting doctor Madison Li to work on the liberty prime. after the side quest Duty of Dishonor is completed could still do the loose end side quest or it’s gonna mess up the whole list up sorry again for this question man :(

Glad that you found the list helpful. As for your question about "Loose End" I think there might be an issue with speaking to Lancer Captain Kells since he will most likely ask you to get rid of the Railroad before giving you the option to do that side-quest. At least that's what my guess would be, I've not tried it. But just to be safe don't speak to Kells.
