I might disagree with Connor's contention that people are choosing to think or fantasize about something. While we can retrain our neurons to fire more often with certain thoughts through continually engaging in reinforcing our patterns, it is difficult to suggest that someone with implicitly harmful thoughts can simply focus on their family to get out of that pattern. It also assumes a person with those thoughts has a stable family life which is supportive and to which they can positively direct their thoughts and feelings. A lot of people who have harmful impulses derive them from both genetic predisposition paired with their social norms and external stimuli.
