This film is among the best comedies ever made. The coffee girl is played by Michelle Stacy, and the coffee boy is played by David Hollander. Stacy had a prolific child acting career, but stopped working in that profession in 1980. Hollander went on to become a successful screenwriter and executive producer.

I didn't find out that this movie was a direct parody of an older film until more than 20+ years after I saw it. It's a credit to how well the comedy works considering that almost nobody knew about the original!

The fact that you can hear propellers buzzing in the back even though they're flying in a jet engine has to be the best gag in the entire film.

EDIT: this video must’ve hit the algorithm because I suddenly got a lot of likes and replies on this particular comment. I just want to take the opportunity and clarify that it isn’t really “the best gag” in the movie, but it’s certainly the most subtle one and thinking about how they snuck it in makes me chuckle every time.

I went to see this with a group of students in 1980. I don't think I have ever laughed so much since, No time to recover from one visual gag, before something else set us off big time. My sides were well and truly split and I would not be surprised if there were people who saw this, who literally died laughing.

I'll never forget the first time I saw this movie. This was the scene that did it for me. I had to press pause, I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. It really caught me off guard. It's a shame this kind of humor is gone. The world would be a happier place if we could still hear these kinds of jokes nowadays.

Funny thing, though. I noticed that when we all make fun of each other's race, gender, etc. we tend not to take it all so seriously and it brings us together; "You meet so-and-so? He's really funny..." Usually people enjoy laughing together and don't mind their differences.

You make up reasons for us to be on edge, and you get people AVOIDING different skin colors because they're afraid to say the wrong thing and it drives us further apart.

This movie has stood the test of time. It's every bit as watchable today as it was in 1980. Airplane, Caddyshack, History of the World part I, were all chock full of so much talent that movie posters didn't even list all the stars.

The girl in the scene is Michelle Stacy. She was a child actor through the much of the 70s appearing in a number of TV shows and movies before retiring from acting after making "Airplane!" at the ripe old age of 12. She went on to attend USC and is married to Danny Northern.

The boy is David Hollander. He continued to work in Hollywood for a time as an actor, but is probably best known for his work behind the camera as a music supervisor, producer, cinematographer, and more.

Absolutely unforgettable lines in this particular scene from the Airplane! movie (Flying High! in some regions), which as you stated was a "take off" of that 1958 movie, "Crash Landing". Watching excerpts from the original 1958 movie made up my mind that it's script was almost as hilarious as watching this spoof made of it. My hat is off to all of those involved in the casting, writing, direction and all round general production of Airplane!

After having watched “Airplane!” at least 50
times over the years, it is impossible to watch ‘Zero Hour’, without laughing at scenes originally filmed as part of a dramatic movie. Thankfully I read the book ‘Zero Hour’ was based on (known as both “Runway Zero-Eight” or “Flight Into Danger”) while in elementary school, a few years before “Airplane!” was made, so was able to enjoy the book.
