They are signed to the Wichita Recordings label, and have currently released 5 albums through this imprint - 'The Cribs' (2004), 'The New Fellas' (2005), 'Mens Needs, Womens Needs, Whatever' (2007), 'Ignore The Ignorant' (2009), and 'In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull' (2012).
Despite starting off as an underground band, The Cribs have experienced commercial success with 'Mens Needs, Womens Needs, Whatever' charting at #13 in the UK album charts, and 'Ignore The Ignorant' achieving the band their first Top Ten album, charting at #8. They also have 7 top 40 hit singles to their name, the most successful of which being 'Men's Needs' (#17). In 2008, Q magazine described The Cribs as "The biggest cult band in the UK".
The Chi-Town Songfacts says that The Cribs' fifth studio album, In the Belly of the Brazen Bull, was recorded at London's Abbey Road and Chicago's EAR studio with famed lo-fi rock engineer Steve Albini and Tarbox Road studio in New York with David Fridmann (Mercury Rev, The Flaming Lips).
After some hard times during which they were (according to an interview in DIY Magazine) "nearly losing the rights to their entire back catalogue, and coming close to calling time on the group entirely," in 2020 they released the album "Night Network."

I, I, I, I can't find time for her, oh no
I, I, I, I can't find time for her, oh no
And I, I, I, I can't find time for her, oh no
I, I, I, I can't find time for her, oh no
Because of M.T.
Because I'm empty
Because of M.T.V, oh no, ah
I, I, I, I can't find time for her, oh no
I, I, I, I can't find time for her, oh no
Because of M.T.
Because of M.T.V, oh no
Because I'm empty
Because of M.T.V, oh no
Because of M.T.
Because of M.T.V, oh no
Because of M.T.
Because of M.T.V, oh no
I, I, I, I can't find time for her, oh no
I, I, I, I can't find time for her, oh no
Because of M.T.
Because of M.T.V, oh no
Because I'm empty
Because of M.T.V, oh no
Because of M.T.
Because of M.T.V, oh no
Because I'm empty
Because of M.T.V, oh no
The lyrics of "Major's Titling Victory" by The Cribs describe the singer's struggle to find time for their partner as they become increasingly distracted and consumed by the influence of MTV, represented here by the initials "M.T." The repeated refrain of "I can't find time for her" reflects the internal conflict of the singer and their inability to prioritize their relationship over MTV. The line "Because I'm empty" reveals the hollowness that the singer feels as they gravitate towards the shallow world of mass media and popular culture.
The lyrics suggest a larger critique of society and the damaging impact of mass media on personal relationships and emotional fulfillment. The focus on superficial, celebrity-driven stories takes precedence over meaningful connection and can lead individuals to feel disconnected and empty. The song can also be interpreted as a commentary on the music industry and the ways in which MTV in particular has impacted the way music is made, marketed, and consumed.
Overall, "Major's Titling Victory" is a striking critique of the ways in which our culture prioritizes media and entertainment over meaningful human connection and emotional fulfillment, and represents a call to recognize the importance of prioritizing real relationships over superficial distractions.
