Maybe baby, you'll be true
Maybe baby, I'll have you for me
It's funny honey, you don't care
You never listen, to my prayer
Maybe baby, you will love me some day
Any other one that, makes me sad
When some day, you'll want me
Well, I'll be there, wait and see ee ee
Maybe baby, I'll have you
Maybe baby, you'll be true
Maybe baby, I'll have you for me

The song "Maybe Baby" by The Crickets/Buddy Holly is a classic rock 'n' roll hit that speaks to the yearning and hopefulness of young love. The lyrics are simple and straightforward, yet they convey a depth of emotion that is all too relatable. The song expresses the desire to be with someone who may not currently reciprocate those feelings but holds onto the hope that someday that person will come around.
The first verse sets the tone for the song, with the repeated refrain of "Maybe baby, I'll have you." The singer admits to his feelings but is uncertain if those feelings will ever be returned. He addresses the indifference of his love interest, who "never listens to my prayer," but he remains hopeful that someday she will "love me some day."
The second verse reinforces the singer's adoration of his love interest, proclaiming her as the only one who makes him glad but also the one who makes him sad when she is not with him. The final lines of the song are a declaration of his unwavering dedication, promising to be there for her when she finally realizes her feelings.
Overall, "Maybe Baby" is a song that speaks to the vulnerabilities and insecurities of young love and the hope that someday those feelings will be returned.

I am only 23, I was introduced to the music of Buddy Holly through the film the Buddy Holly story in 10th grade. Then, I started to listen to his songs, and noticed that the versions they did in the movie had quite a few lyrical errors. I also realize that I really enjoyed Buddy Holly’s music, and that’s what helped me discover more of Chuck Berry then just the Johnny B Goode that I knew from back to the future
