All Grown Up
The Crystals Lyrics

When I'm all grown up, ain't no baby no more
I can do the things I couldn't do before
No more pony tails, I'll wear my hair up high
Because I'm 17, & that's the reason why

Now I'm all grown up & I'll go where I want to go
See who I want to see, stay out late
I'm all grown up & I'll do what I want to do
Be what I want to be, gee I can hardly wait

Well I'm goin' on dates every Saturday night
And if he wants a kiss, I might say "All right"
I gotta have me fun & I'll be ready to go
I'm gonna go downtown, I'm gonna fill the floor

Gee, I can hardly wait
(scat singing, fading out)

Yes, the two different versions by the Crystals both have Lala Brooks singing lead, but the other version has a more of a "Chuck Berry" sound and it's faster, while this one has more of a pop touch and is slightly slower with a more delicate bounce. I think the other version gives the lyics a more defiant 'bad girl' feeling, while this one sounds sweetly innocent.

This sounds more like a Chubby Checker tune. Love it. Haven't heard the other.

do you have the other version of this song?

@unjuranalam The other version is an alternate version recorded in 1964 also.I believe that version originally came out as a single on Philles 122.

peaked in the 90s-chart position.

Who did the vocals on this one? Was it Lala Brooks, or one of the others?
