Rizzo had recruited songwriters Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss, who had previously composed hits for Perry Como ("Catch A Falling Star") and Brian Hyland ("Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini"). The songwriting duo came up with the catchy, bubblegum singalong "Tracy", which became an international hit.

Dante was the sole multi-voiced singer on the original recording, but once the song charted, a group was created, comprised of Pat Rizzo (saxaphone), Rick Dimino (keyboards), Bob Gill (trumpet/flugelhorn/flute), Dave Lavender (guitar), Andrew "Junior" Denno (bass), Joe Cord (vocals) and Danny Valentine (drums). The group recorded a handful of further singles and two albums before disbanding in the early 1970s.

In 1999, because of the great interest in 1960s & 1970s music, lead singer Michael "Valentine" Ubriaco obtained the touring rights and revitalized the group. In February 2006, original Cuff Links guitarist Dave Lavender joined the current line-up.

I think that's so neat, Tracey!!! I have always loved this song!! We had a girl in my class with that name and she was head cheerleader in high school and I thought she was so cool. The next year I wanted to try out after talking to her about how much she liked it. She encouraged me and I did. I lost my oldest brother in Vietnam this year 1969 and I remember this song well because it made me smile because I knew a girl named Tracy at that time when I was 14 and she was a cute girl hahaha. +Giova Italia OK, Giova, I'll try two more that maybe you didn't hear because they didn't crack the Top 40: "I Can't Let Go" by Mojo, not really bubble so much as just an ordinary pop song, from spring of 1969. Another obscure one is "Condition Red" by the Goodee's, a girl group from Memphis. The song is a lot like "Leader of the Pack" (actually better), from December 1968, being the story of a girl with a biker boyfriend who is hated by the girl's parents and angrily leaves the scene, only to (of course) crash his bike and join Teen Angel up in Hot-Rod Heaven.

I would never admit to liking this song at the time, but it was such a happy, upbeat and infectious song I just loved it. I still do and I often sing it to myself on my morning walks! Ron Dante was such a talented guy and was 'the voice' on hundreds of ads, cartoons and songs.

My sister got a record player Christmas 1969.
She also got a few singles to go with it.
I remember the whole family being wakened up shortly after 6AM with Tracy blasting away .

Everyone’s gone now except me and I actually still have the single.
I may give it a spin just for old times sake.

I was 16 years old when this came out and this was such a HOT song. I remember my friends and I would love to dance to this!! Also this is the time my brother was in Vietnam. What a hard time for our country!! I will say one thing though we had GREAT music!!!!

Tracy Marie Had a Girlfriend named Tracy I told her I grew up in a big IRISH Family she said so you grew up with a bunch of Drunks. It is true most people think all IRISH are Drunks. I guess IRISH are different some born with Red Hair & Freckels. I didn't want to go to grade school my entire face was covered with Freckels. I looked like I was baking in the sun for 8 hours. We were 70s kids. Us kids loved music from watching Partridge Family TV Show 1970 -1974. My sister was one of those teenagers that had the hots for those Long Hair Rock Stars. That thing about Boys not liking Redheads is an IRISH MYTH. AN IRISH GIRL IS A GUYS BEST DRINKING BUDDY. YOU DONT SCARE ME I WAS RAISED BY AN IRISH MOTHER. Not gonna say some of us liked our Alcohol. Really did have a big Family 10 kids. Bad Timing ST. PATS PARADE was cancelled because of that CORONA VIRUS. Sorry about all IRISH Stuff IM JUST PROUD TO BE AN IRISH AMERICAN

The Cufflinks were from Staten Island, NY. Their lead singer, Ron Dante, also sang lead on the Archie's #1 hit, Sugar, Sugar, also from 1969.
