Some Day My Prince Will Come
The Dave Brubeck Quartet Lyrics
Somewhere waiting for me
There is someone I'm longing to see
Someone I simply can't help but adore
Someone who'll thrill me forever
Some day my prince will come
Some day I'll find my love
And how thrilling that moment will be
When the prince of my dreams comes to me
He'll whisper, I love you,
And steal a kiss or two
I'll find my love some day
Some day when my dreams come true
Some day I'll find my love
Someone to call my own
And I'll know her the moment we meet
For my heart will start skipping a beat
Some day we'll say and do
Things we've been longing to
Though she's far away
I'll find my love some day
Some day when my dreams come true

The Dave Brubeck Quartet was an American modern jazz group formed in San Francisco in 1951 by jazz pianist Dave Brubeck (1920-2012). The band remains best-known for their use of odd time signatures, and were a premier group in the cool jazz movement. They produced several standards, including Take Five and Blue Rondo à la Turk. I believe that Paul Desmond solo on this song is truly great, I listen to it over and over. I can hum along.

Its got to be the coolest piece of jazz I've ever enjoyed. Paul Desmond is THE freakiest Alto Sax player ever. i get carried away to another place whenever I hear this tune.

In my Alto days I wrote this solo out note for note, played everyday. Got chance to play in club and everybody love it.but the real musicians knew what was up.

I love that the bass player is named Norman Bates..

At first I thought this was incorrect, but after looking it up, Norman Bates indeed played w Brubeck from 1956-57. I was familiar w Bob Bates, who happens to be Norman's brother, playing w Brubeck on the "Jazz: Red Hot and Cool" album, recorded in 1954-55.
