You Go to May Head
The Dave Brubeck Quartet Lyrics
You go to my head
And you linger like a haunting refrain
And I find you spinning round in my brain
Like the bubbles in a glass of champagne
You go to my head
Like a sip of sparkling burgundy brew
And I find the very mention of you
Like the kicker in a julep or two
That you might give a thought to my plea, cast a spell over me
Still I say to myself get a hold of yourself
Can't you see that it never can be?
You go to my head
With a smile that makes my temperature rise
Like a summer with a thousand July's
You intoxicate my soul with your eyes
Though I'm certain that this heart of mine
Hasn't a ghost of a chance in this crazy romance
You go to my head
You go to my head

The Dave Brubeck Quartet was an American modern jazz group formed in San Francisco in 1951 by jazz pianist Dave Brubeck (1920-2012). In what became known as the band's classic line-up, the band featured Joe Morello (1928–2011) on drums, Eugene Wright on bass, and Paul Desmond (1924-1977) on saxophone. The band remains best-known for their use of odd time signatures, and were a premier group in the cool jazz movement. They produced several standards, including Take Five and Blue Rondo à la Turk. Try the original classic. Search YT for "Dave Brubeck Trio/Quartet with Paul Desmond-You Go To My Head" recorded in 1952.

This is what I call real jazz. I have been a Brubeck fan for a few years Brubeck is a man who knows how to play a piano.

This album and Miles Davis Kind of Blue were both recorded in 1959 and are the biggest selling Jazz albums of all time!

I bought a book of Brubeck sheet music and even their best pieces such as Blue Rondo were surprisingly easy to play on the piano but sounded really good.
