World Gone Global
The Dead Trees Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Laying down by the river watching you die
Look at the moon, look at the stars, baby one at a time
It's been especially a good one
Is that your favourite line?
How did the world become your ashtray?
Don't forget the implied... No?

Dirty, mean and lazy
You thought that I was someone you could abuse
Didn't think I had no feelings, but I do
Somewhere...

Eager beaver rolls on singing their song
Hear them on their way to permona as they wimper along
How come nobody wants to sit still when there's shit going on?
Diferent grown ups they own what are you putting me on?
Well?

Dirty, mean and lazy
You thought that I was someone you could abuse
Didn't think I had no feelings, but I do
Somewhere...

In the land unknown
In the land unknown

In the land unknown

Overall Meaning

The Dead Trees song "World Gone Global" is a poignant commentary on the current state of affairs in our world, highlighting the detachment and indulgence of people in modern times. The initial lines describe the singer lying beside a river, watching a loved one pass away. They ponder upon the beauty of nature - the moon and stars- and ask if these are the person's favorite. The irony highlighted here is that despite nature's unfailing beauty, humans have turned the world into an ashtray, a metaphor for the destruction caused by people to their own surroundings. The line "don't forget the implied...No?" suggests that the singer is aware that there is a meaning beyond the words and actions we perceive, but most people choose to ignore it.

The second verse describes how the singer has been treated as someone who is easily abused, perceived as lazy and insignificant. However, the chorus which repeats twice, refutes these accusations, stating that despite being called dirty and lazy, the singer does have feelings too, misplaced somewhere amidst the chaos of the world. The final lines "In the land unknown" repeat the theme of confusion and uncertainty, where the singer is at a loss about what is happening, as if lost in a foreign land.

@phidelt733 Normally I wouldn't let myself get dragged into such a picayune argument such as this, but I heard what a professional video producer had to say about this video. He liked it very much in every way, but had one minor bone to pick with the video. It sure wasn't your issue about depth of field. If you're as good as you say, I'm sure you'll be able to tell us what it is.

The Video quality is no good. No depth of field. Everything is too focused. Hope they didn't spend too much money in this
