The Devil and the Almighty Blues, in co-operation with the label Blues For The Red Sun from Tromsø, Norway, now present their self-titled debut album on February 16th, 2015. Armed with vintage Gibson guitars and tube amplifiers, they recorded the album live in studio. This was to preserve the natural and musical energy. The band took the time they needed in the studio to let the songs breathe. A new take on blues-based rock, heavy without becoming metal, slow without being doom, bluesy without being straight up and boring. The album has turned out slow, heavy, melodic and raw. The result is far from being a possible hit on the radio, but on the other hand it is one of the heaviest and coolest blues-based albums ever to be released from Oslo, Norway!
Slow, heavy, melodic and raw, all without losing the almighty blues out of sight

No Man's Land
The Devil And The Almighty Blues Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I wear a cloak of darkness
a cloak of stars
I wear a cloak of moonlight
Cover all my scars
I wear a cloak of ice
I wear a cloak of winter
Live where nothing grows
I wear a cloak of fangs
a cloak of horns
I wear a cloak of talons
A skin of thorns
I wear a cloak of thunder
a cloak of rain
I wear a cloak of lightning
Storms feel no pain
Hold me down
Send me out
No man's land
In the song "No Man's Land," The Devil And The Almighty Blues sing about someone who appears to be constantly haunted by their past. The character in the song is described as wearing a variety of cloaks, each one representing a different aspect of their inner turmoil. The cloaks of darkness, moonlight, and stars seem to symbolize the character's attempts to conceal their pain and trauma from the world. They want to cover up their emotional scars and hide their vulnerability. Similarly, the cloaks of ice, snow, and winter indicate a desire to isolate themselves from others and retreat into a lifeless, barren landscape.
As the song goes on, the description of the character's cloaks takes on a more sinister tone. The cloaks of fangs, horns, and talons suggest that the character may have become predatory in response to their trauma. They have developed defenses and weapons to protect themselves from others, but these defenses have also made them dangerous. The cloak of thunder, rain, and lightning seems to represent the character's inner anger and frustration. They are like a storm, powerful and destructive but unable to feel any relief from their pain.
