Overall Meaning

The Ding-Dongs's song "I Don't Care" is about two people who are on a bus ride and sitting on the cold and familiar back seat without making eye-contact or talking. However, the singer realizes that they have reached the corner of separation. The singer cannot let go of their lover’s hands, they love them so much, but there is nothing that can be done. The singer hopes that the bus they are on does not stop and continues running until they have reached their destination. The singer understands where they are headed, where they have been through as a couple, and they want to go through everything together, not alone anymore. They want to hold hands and smile at each other as the warm wind blows above their heads. The singer wishes to go back to the beginning when they were happy together, where the sun was shining, and they had each other. But since he/she can't do that anymore, the reality that hits her/him hard. The singer can only hope that time passes faster and that their lover looks towards the sun instead of waiting by the window when they're gone.
