They have been honored with four former members being inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame: J.G. Whitfield (1997), Dale Shelnut (2001), Jack Toney (2005), and Billy Todd (2009).
The Dixie Echoes have performed throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada at well-known venues such as the National Quartet Convention, Gospel Jubilee Cruise, the Brumley Sing, Suwannee River Jubilee, Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, and Carnegie Hall as well as churches, fairs, and on television. The Dixie Echoes have appeared on such programs as TBN, INSP and are most notably remembered for their regular appearances on the nationally syndicated television show, The Gospel Singing Jubilee which aired in the late 1960’s and 70’s.
Although each individual presents his own musical styling, the members collectively share the common goal of doing everything they can to expose the audience to the power of a meaningful song. With arguably the best line-up of talent ever, the Dixie Echoes present the gospel message in song with a touch of class and excellence.
Randy Shelnut – has been a member of the group for over 44 years. His father, Dale, is credited with bringing the group to national prominence and Randy has continued to keep the Dixie Echoes at the forefront of gospel music. A prolific songwriter, Randy has written many of the groups biggest hits. With a lifetime of experience Randy is considered to be one of the finest lead singers and has been honored with multiple Singing News Fan Awards.
Ben Hart – has been the Dixie Echoes pianist since 2012. Ben’s intense dedication to the perfection of his craft has made him one of the best and most popular pianists in gospel music today.
Randy Shelnut, Jr. – known to gospel music fans as “Scoot”, began his gospel music career at the young age of eleven. With 24 years of experience to build upon, Scoot is named among the best baritones in gospel music and has been voted by the fans as one of the top 5 baritones in the country on several occasions. As a third generation member of the group, Scoot is proudly carrying on a tradition of class and integrity that has long been synonymous with the Dixie Echoes.
Alex and Andrew Utech – are quickly leaving their mark on Gospel music. This Scottsboro AL, set of twins have become fan favorites across the country. Alex proves that you don't have to be big in stature to sing bass with the best of them, Andrew plays percussions and also adds great vocals.
Junior Shelton – has been singing professionally since childhood with his family The Sheltons. Born and raised in Pickens SC, he was blessed with one of the finest and most natural tenor voices in Gospel music today.
Over the last 50 years God has trusted the Dixie Echoes with the huge purpose of telling everyone they can about Him. To do this He has provided talented men with a dedication to this grand style of music. In the timeless tradition of the Statesmen Quartet and the Blackwood Brothers Quartet, the Dixie Echoes will continue to sing songs in such a manner that no one can miss a single word, not one distraction from hearing what the songwriter wanted to share. Plus they do it with just four guys and a piano player.
Walk With Me
The Dixie Echoes Lyrics

Walk with me
Lest mine eyes no longer see
All the glory
All of the story of your love
Talk to me
Talk to me
As you walk there, as you talk there.
By the sea.
Let me follow in the footsteps
That trod the shores of galilee.
And let me learn to pray as he prayed.
In the garden of Gethsemane
Take my hand
Take my hand
Teach me, lord, to understand
All the beauty
All the duty
Of your love.
(Instrumental Break)
Take my hand
Take my hand
Teach me, lord, to understand
All the beauty
All the duty
Of your love.
The song "Walk With Me" by The Dixie Echoes is a call to God to walk with the singer, to talk to him tenderly as they walk by the sea and lead him to learn to pray as Jesus did in the garden of Gethsemane. The singer is requesting God's guidance and the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of those who came before him, particularly the biblical figures of Jesus and his disciples. Through these powerful images and metaphors, the lyrics express the singer's deep longing for a closer relationship with God and his desire to understand the depth of God's love for him.
The first two lines of the song, "Walk with me, Walk with me," suggest that the singer feels isolated and alone, and is appealing to God to be an all-knowing and ever-present companion. The phrase, "Lest mine eyes no longer see," suggests that the singer has lost his way and needs God's guidance to regain his footing. The reference to "All of the glory" and "all of the story" of God's love implies that the singer is aware of a greater truth that he has yet to fully understand.
The second verse, beginning "Let me follow in the footsteps," expands on the idea of seeking to learn from those who came before. The references to the shores of Galilee and the Garden of Gethsemane emphasize the historical and spiritual significance of these locations in biblical history, while the phrase "learn to pray as he prayed" suggests a humbling desire to emulate Jesus' closeness to God.
Overall, "Walk With Me" is an earnest plea for guidance and understanding, expressed through powerful metaphors of journeying, following, and learning from the past.
