The band consisted of Brett Anderson (lead vocals), Allison Robertson (guitar, backing vocals), Maya Ford (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Amy Cesari (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Cesari replaced Torry Castellano, who left the band in 2009 due to tendonitis. They drew inspiration from the Ramones, The Runaways, Girlschool, AC/DC, Bachman–Turner Overdrive and Kiss. Rolling Stone has stated that "the Donnas offer a guileless take on adolescent alienation; they traffic in kicks, not catharsis, fun rather than rage". MTV has stated that the band offers "a good old-fashioned rock & roll party". After gathering a cult following in the punk scene since their 1997 debut, the band achieved major label commercial success in the early 2000s and afterward as their music mixed punk, metal and classic rock sounds. They dissolved in 2012.

Overall Meaning

In “Don't Wait Up For Me”, The Donnas sing about the desire to live life to the fullest without being tied down by the expectations of others. I love how they started in school and traveled there entire journey together. It makes the ending sadder but it was one of the best rides to follow. I will always have a strong love for The Donnas. They didn't just sound good they were a part of something rare that alot of bands didn't have, the Donnas had a strong connection with each other that started at a awesome time for a musician. I hope there doing well. They'll always be the queens of noize in my heart.

@@SuperChuckRaney Tori developed shoulder tendinitis, an inflammation of the tendons in her shoulders. If you watch older videos that show her playing you'll notice she uses far too much shoulder in her playing. Drums should be played primarily with the wrist and forearm. Unfortunately, she was unable to learn the proper technique before the tendinitis became too severe to continue playing.

These Girls Rocked the stage! So glad we got to see them live right after "Bitchin" was released. Love them all. Brett controls that stage with authority, Love Allisons Guitar work, Watching Torry beat the living hell out of her drums is a show in itself.
The Donnas were one of the best rock n Roll bands of their time and are surely missed.
I doubt there's ever going to be a reunion tour or even a reunion concert. But it sure would be fun to see them one more time....

I like them, The Donnas, they're nice. I can almost see and hear Orianthi singing and playing this song on the guitar herself. She's both Brett & Allison themselves, and to a lesser extent, Torry, before she retired in 2010, but nothing like them in real life, honestly ☺.
