Lyrically the band has a strong philosophy of talking about inequalities and injustices which are ever present in India's social and political systems. A common theme in their music is the effort to project the voice of the under-privileged and down-trodden people

The lyrics are from the song "Shiva" by The Down Troddence. These lines are a depiction of Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. The first stanza describes the physical appearance of Shiva. He is adorned with flowing hair (jataa), which is shaking due to his dance (tandava). The river Ganges flowing through his hair is also mentioned. Shiva's forehead is adorned with ashes (bhasma), which is also a symbol of his ascetic lifestyle. The stanza ends with the singer expressing their longing to witness this sight.
The second stanza describes Shiva's tandava dance, which is a symbol of the cosmic cycles of creation and destruction. The description mentions his snake (bhujanga) as well as his garland of skulls (mundamala). The chant of "dama dama dama" is describing the beats of Shiva's drum (damaru) which accompanies his dance. The stanza ends with the singer praying that Shiva's dance blesses them.
Overall, the lyrics describe the powerful and awe-inspiring form of Shiva, as well as the devotion and admiration of the singer towards him.

Conservatives criticizing the attempt to include mantras and chants in Metal forget the story of encounter between Adi Shankara and Shiva in the form of a Chandala, an outcast. It is the supreme lesson imparted to Shankara, as he learns that God is omnipresent in EVERYTHING. Thats what we Metalheads proudly are : Outcasts. And our music will not stop.

its a song from raavana the demon king of srilanka to please shiva

Manas Joshi this video is made on the background of the legend of ravaana,a devout devotee of Shiva. Ravaana's meditation and devotion towards Shiva was at such an extent that he made a mridanga veena with his entrails and played the Shiva tandava strotam to offer his prayers. Shiva, being overwhelmed, came to shower his blessings over ravaana in the disguise of nataraj.. if you listen to the groove of the song starting from the intro bass riff, you can feel the energy and the power of the Shiva tandava strotam.. this is one of the best Vedic metal or epic metal songs ever. Cheers to the down troddance..

In Metal we learn that God is nothing. You're not really Metalhead with this religious babbling nonsense.
@arjunchandrasekharan2649
i'm a metalhead, a metal singer..i believe in god. Believing doesn't make you a non metalhead... Har Har Mahadev!
@surajneupane4355
I personally feel Shiva is the most metal god of all. The god of the chaos. The god of destruction himself. And this song suites just perfect. Imagine pop or rap song defining shiva. 😂😂.
Great music, great video and great combination. Love from Nepal.
@pranithamurali8926
Yep! In fact metal would be the best genre to define the Hindu pantheon of gods IMO
@supersenpai5920
Absolutely lmao. The literal god of creation and the destroyer of said creation. Ain't no one more metal than the Mahadev himself. 🤘
