There's a lot still left to see.
I saw a picture of the devil in the shade
And there's a lot still left to see.
It's a restless night, I just want you to say you'll come with me.
Hey come with me, hey come with me.
‘Cause I can't stand feeling paralyzed
And I can't wait for a break.
‘Cause every time that I find myself alone
It's always there waiting for me.
It's a restless night, I just want you to say you'll come with me.
Hey come with me, hey come with me.
Hey come with me, hey come with me.
Hey come with me, hey come with me.
I needed a scare, so lock the doors and we'll get away.
Give me a place to go,
Somewhere I don't know.
Give me a place to go, ‘cause anywhere is better.
Anyplace is, if you'll come with me.
Hey come with me, hey come with me.
Hey come with me, hey come with me.
Hey come with me, hey come with me.
I needed a scare, so lock the doors and we'll get away.
The lyrics to The Draft's song "Devil In The Shade" are about the restlessness and longing for adventure of a person who feels stuck and paralyzed in their daily routine. They want to escape and find somewhere new to go, somewhere they don't know, and they want someone to come with them. They reference a picture of the devil in the shade, which could be interpreted as a metaphor for the unknown and mysterious, tempting the person to venture out and explore.
The chorus repeats the plea to "come with me", emphasizing the desire for companionship in this journey towards the unknown. The person is tired of feeling stuck and wants to break free, even if it means encountering fear and uncertainty. The lines "I needed a scare, so lock the doors and we'll get away" suggest that they are willing to take risks and possibly even run from their current situation in order to find something new.
Overall, the song captures the restlessness and yearning for adventure that many people experience at some point in their lives, as well as the fear and uncertainty that can come with taking risks and stepping into the unknown.
