Out of This World
The Draytones Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But there is no need for misery
When we can go up, on and
Out of this world
Moving on,
So meaningless how life goes wrong
And it's just can't be undone
Since you said goodbye
I lack something in my life
I'm exhausted all the time
I am tired, I am down
I am out of this world
Moving on,
So meaningless how life goes wrong
And it's just can't be undone
Deep I'm falling down
(And I just can't see the end)
Little girls you make me feel
Out of the world
Moving on,
So meaningless how life goes wrong
And it's just can't be undone
Moving on,
So meaningless how life goes wrong
And it's just can't be undone
Can't be undone (Can't be undone)
Can't be undone (Can't be undone)
We just can't be undone
The song 'Out of This World' by The Draytones is a melancholy tune with a message of hope beyond heartbreak. The first stanza itself sets the tone of the song with lines that suggest the common theme of love being the ultimate epicentre of a songwriter's imagination. But, the song here is different in its approach. It is introspective, measured and reassuring. The singer implies that love should not become a source of misery since love should elevate one's soul and help them reach beyond the terrestrial realm. The idea of love being something that can take you 'on and out of this world' is a metaphor for a transcendent experience, beyond the earthly experience.
The song moves on to narrate the aftermath of heartbreak - a staple of the pop genre. The singer still has an unfulfilled void, potentially caused by a recent separation, that seems impossible to fill. The fourth and fifth lines of the same stanza seem particularly heavy in their wording with the singer displaying exhaustion, defeat and a complete disconnection from reality. The chorus is repeated after this, characteristically, to establish its emotional impact. The song ends with a reminder that, even when life goes wrong, it is a part of the journey and can never truly be undone. The song is one of resilience - that it may be difficult to process heartbreak, but experience and time define the healing process.
