On March 1, 2018, R5's social networks had their name changed to The Driver Era and all posts deleted. On March 2, it was confirmed that The Driver Era was a new band consisting of Ross and Rocky. On the same day, promotional videos were released for their first single, "Preacher Man", to be released on March 16th.
"Preacher Man" was released on March 16 as the duo's first single. After several previews of new songs, the band released "Afterglow" on July 3rd. The single was not released on platforms such as iTunes and Spotify, but on the band's official website for free download (later, on August 31, it was made available on digital platforms). On October 26th, the band released "Low".
Take Me Away

Twisting in my side
Hit me all at once again
A painting of a sky
We′re going back, it was so far, now it's over
Tears to a fire, I′m not a liar
Holdin' off, going too fast, feel the whiplash
So come on, take me away, ooh
Come on, take me away, ooh
Seeing double images
Outcomes I decide
Never time to settle in
Live and I'll let die
Going back, it was so far, now it′s over
Tears to a fire, I′m not a liar
Holdin' off, going too fast, feel the whiplash
Need another ride home
So come on, take me away, ooh
Come on, take me away, ooh
So come on, take me away (away, away)
(Take me away, away, away)
So come on, take me away (away, away)
(Take me away)
The lyrics of The Driver Era's song "Take Me Away" explore the idea of wanting to escape from oneself, the past, or a troubling situation. The song opens with the singer asking for help to get rid of a twisting feeling in their side, which could be interpreted as physical or emotional pain. The line "hit me all at once again, a painting of a sky" could suggest a sudden onset of intense emotions that feel overwhelming but also evoke the beauty of the sky.
The chorus, "Come on, take me away," repeated twice, is a plea for a way out and a release from whatever is causing the pain or discomfort. The verses describe feeling stuck or trapped, unable to settle in or make decisions. The lyrics "Going back, it was so far, now it's over, tears to a fire, I'm not a liar, holdin' off, going too fast, feel the whiplash, need another ride home" capture the sense of being lost, past mistakes that can’t be undone, anxiety for the future, and the need for a fresh start.
Overall, "Take Me Away" expresses a universal feeling of wanting to escape from one's troubles but also acknowledging that there's no easy way out. It's a poignant and relatable song that many listeners will connect with on a personal level.

FlaggleClaggle They said that The Driver Era is only an era of R5, he sees the name. They said they wanted to shed their Disney image because Ross was on Disney and they were signed to Hollywood Records, which I think is owned by Disney.
