Waiting For
The Drop Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Where can I find me another
Who would walk a mile tryin' to discover
The secrets that are hidden on the way
The path is faint, weeds overtaken
There are rocks beneath, if I'm not mistaken
But this narrow road is still the only way
I believe it's time
For us to walk by faith and not by sight now
Try to imagine there is more than what we see now
I am gonna lift my eyes toward the hill and
Climb until I reach the prize that's waiting there for me
Clouds roll in and I run for cover
As the rain pours down and I start to shudder
Then I wait for calm, but it never seems to come
Fear creeps in the longer I'm waiting
So I run back out without hesitating
Gotta find the path before it disappears
I believe it's time
For us to walk by faith and not by sight now
Try to imagine there is more than what we see now

I am gonna lift my eyes toward the hill and
Climb until I reach the prize that's waiting there for me

Overall Meaning

The Drop's song, "Waiting For," is about the journey of faith and the search for the unknown. The song opens with the singer asking where they can find someone who would walk with them to discover the secrets of their path. The path they are on is hidden, overgrown with weeds, and full of rocks, but the singer believes that it's the only way forward. They encourage listeners to walk by faith and not by sight, to imagine that there is more to life than what they can see in the present moment. The singer lifts their eyes towards the hill, symbolizing the end goal, and resolves to keep climbing until they reach the prize waiting for them.

The second verse highlights the struggles that can come with the journey, as clouds roll in and rain pours down. The singer shudders with fear, waiting for the calm that never comes. However, despite the fear, the singer runs back out to find their path again. This verse represents the internal battle of self-doubt and fear that comes with pushing towards a goal that is not yet visible. Despite the hardships, the singer is determined to find their way and reach the prize waiting for them.

Overall, "Waiting For" is a powerful anthem for those who are struggling with their faith, questioning their journey, and working towards goals they cannot yet see. The song's message is one of hope and perseverance, encouraging listeners to keep climbing towards the prize, even in the face of fear and doubt.

[LYRICS]
Secure all your items, strap in and hold on for the ride
"And keep your hands inside" oh, it's about to begin
I'm bursting within
Climbing, rising higher, feel my face against the wind.
Looking down at it all, at the ants caught in their ev'ryday strife
[Noel] - My God, this ride is like my life?!
Take me up and away above this small town cliche
[C/O/M/N] - To leave this place behind oh I'm just waiting for the day!
But at the top of the peak, there's a moment when you're king of the world...
Then suddenly you're hurled over, up and then down
Towards the carnival ground
Scream and join the crazy twisted symphony of sound
Oh, how I love to hear
Ev'ry kind of music!
[Mischa & Noel] - Blasting in my ears!
[Constance & Ocean] - Guns and Roses, Chuck D., The Beatles on calliope
[M & N] - It smells like
[C/O/M/N] - Cotton candy
[M & N] - Corn dogs and rancid beers
[C & O] - Colored lights and people screaming, what is real, 'n what is dreaming?
[C/O/M/N] - Take me higher! No! No!
[M & N] - I never want to stop!
[C & O] - Stomach churning, falling money, kinda freaky, kinda funny,
[C/O/M/N] - Tick-a, tick-a, tick-a, tick-a, tick-a, tick-a, tick-a, tick-a,
Woah! Just awaiting for the drop
[LARGE CUT IN VIDEO]
[All] - You don't know up from down
And you feel a little strange. From all that's spinning 'round
And everything you loved
And everything you dreamed
And everything you feared
And everything that seemed so oh, so terrifying
Is far behind on the ground
Like our far from the city, little, itty-bitty, pretty, home town
Just a teeny, tiny dot on a wee blue ball
And we've all been spinning
[Boys] - All been spinning
[All] - 'Round and 'round and 'round, and 'round and 'round. 'Round and 'round, and 'round and 'round and 'round.
And 'round and 'round, 'round and 'round.
[Boys] - And ev'ry kind of music! Blasting in my ears
[C & O] - All those colored lights! Uh-oh
[Boys] - Cotton candy and rancid beers
[C & O] - I gotta wear shades 'cause the future's so bright
[Boys] - Take me higher! No! No! I never want to stop!
[C & O] - Gravity's keeping me down (down)
[Boys] - Take me up, right up to the top
[C & O] - I'll never put my feet on the ground
[Boys] - And ev'ry kind of music! Blasting in my ears
[C & O] - Life was about to start
[Boys] - Cotton candy and rancid beers
[C & O] - We never should have got into the rickey cart! Oh-no
[Boys] - Take me higher
[All] - Wait! Are we still on the track! Uh-oh!
Felt the drop. Now I know.
Woah! Oh, we're never going back!
Are we ever, ever going back?!

the fact that Noel's actor had to memorize 4 different opening numbers is crazy

@missmint889

Seems from his tiktok that he had a fantastic time nonetheless but mad props

@Crowley99966

Lilian and Tiffany, the ppl who play ocean and constance, did as well. Alongside Kholby, who played Noel, they were in the main cast for years and they all had to memorize all those openings which is amazing tbh.

@spacesugar

@@Crowley99966 lillian, tiffany (and emily i think) only had to learn this one, fall fair suite and uranium suite (from what we know), kholby had to learn tragic fact as well as he was there right from the beginning.

@WhatRemainsofAstridJames

Four?? I only know this one and Fall Fair Suite, what were the others??

@Crowley99966

@@WhatRemainsofAstridJames i know you didn’t ask me but there’s „fall fair Suite“, „uranium suite“ and „waiting for the drop“! There’s also a second version of uranium suite that includes the song „tragic fact“ but idk if that’s the fourth song they meant bc those are the only versions I know of.

The subtle difference when Ricky starts singing along is bonechilling once you have a fuller understanding of the show, those subtle details are incredible!
