Reflection
The Drown Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Too much time has gone by
Take a look back on that life
I see your eyes, I see myself
And I can't look back on that life

Forced to listen forced to learn
With the sounds of the lonely
I remember now, it takes me down
Leave me, leave me now

Dislocated I walked away
You feel the walls begin to build
You were the one
I'm sorry but you could've been anyone
I see you now, you show me everything

Forced to listen forced to learn
With the sounds of being all alone
I remember now, it takes me down
Leave me, leave me now

I remember now, it takes me down
Leave me, leave me now

(It never leaves)
Never

Overall Meaning

too late to say goodbye
Reflection is a song by the American rock band The Drown. The lyrics are reflective, and they seem to talk about someone who is reflecting back on their life. The lyrics start by saying, "Too much time has gone by, take a look back on that life." The singer seems to be looking back on their life and regretting some of their past actions. They see themselves in someone else's eyes, which makes them unable to look back on their life.

The lyrics then switch to talking about feeling forced to listen and learn. The singer remembers the sounds of being lonely and being alone, which brings them down. They walk away, feeling dislocated, and they see the person who they could've been with. However, it's already too late to say goodbye. The song ends with the repeated line, "I remember now, it takes me down, leave me, leave me now."

The lyrics of this song seem deeply personal, and they speak to anyone who has ever felt regret about their past actions. It's difficult to let go of the past and to move on, and this song captures that feeling perfectly. The Drown's use of simple, yet powerful lyrics makes this song a standout in their discography.

Awesome, Awesome band. Saw them open for Clutch & Prong 10/01/94 in Minneapolis. Still one of my favorite shows. That band is truly missed

I was their notoriously terrible roadie in 1994. I went out on 3 tours with them: 3 dates with White Zombie, a couple months with For Love Not Lisa, and a few months with Clutch and Prong. That was a fun year.
The other roadie, Oscar, then went on to roadie for Clutch. He’s been their tour manager now for like 20 years or so.
