A knife spins in the dark
He's closing his eyes for the last time
He's going to be her
They might hate you, but I love you
And they can go kill themself
They might hate you, but I love you
Let me let me see who you are
Let me let me see who you are
A clock ticks on the wall
She loves another girl
She open her eyes for the first time
She's going to love her
They might hate you, but I love you
And they can go kill themself
They might hate you, but I love you
And they can go kill themself
Let me let me see who you are
Let me let me see who you are
A clock ticks on the wall
A knife spins in the dark
A clock ticks on the wall
A knife spins in the dark
A clock ticks on the wall
A knife spins in the dark
Let me let me see who you are
Let me let me see who you are
See who you are
See who you are
The Drums' song Let Me In is a melancholic exploration of love, desire, and acceptance. The song opens with a ticking clock and a spinning knife, creating a sense of urgency and danger. The first verse describes someone who is about to die and be with the person they love. The second verse is about a woman who loves another woman. Both of these scenarios are met with hatred and hostility from society, but the singer still loves the person regardless of what anyone else thinks.
The chorus reveals the singer's plea to see who the person truly is, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. This is a theme throughout the song - the desire to look beyond the surface and truly understand someone.
The repetition of the ticking clock and spinning knife in the final verse creates a sense of urgency and the need to take action. The song ends with the singer repeating their plea to see who the person truly is, emphasizing the need for acceptance and understanding.
Overall, Let Me In is a powerful and emotional exploration of love in the face of social rejection. The lyrics are open to interpretation, but the message is clear - everyone deserves to love and be loved.
