The Ducky Boys Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If I did it all over again
Would you, would you find a way
If you did it all over again
Would you, would you end up dead

Finding all the things your after
Took it's toll my friend
Search for all the things your after
If it kills the pain
Your all alone when you come down
Your all alone when you come down

Too young to burn out like you did
But you pick the life you lived
Too young to burn out like you did

Finding all the things your after
Took it's tool my friend
Search for all the things your after
If it kills the pain
Your all alone when you come down
Your all alone when you come down

Yeah it's russian roullette with a loaded gun
You reach for one more round your done

Your all alone when you come down
Your all alone when you come down

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Ducky Boys's song [untitled] are haunting and introspective. The singer's reflection on whether they or their loved one would make the same choices if they could live their lives again adds an extra layer of sadness to the already mournful melody. The lyrics also touch on the self-destructive nature of addiction and the feeling of isolation that comes with it. The line "Finding all the things your after/ Took it's toll my friend" speaks to the fact that the pursuit of happiness often comes at a great cost, and the "things you're after" can ultimately lead to your destruction. The mention of "Russian roulette with a loaded gun" and "picking the life you lived" suggests that the singer and/or their loved one made choices that they knew would have dangerous and potentially fatal consequences.

Overall, the song [untitled] is a powerful lament on the weight of regret and the struggle to find meaning in a world that can seem cruel and unforgiving.

I'm not exactly sure why this scene is so terrifying. Being lost in an unknown area is one thing, especially at night. Seeing the Ducky Boys in church receiving communion knowing full well that they are killers is eerie. The priest was shoving the hosts into their mouths because he must know they are bad kids. One of them even eyes the priest as if to say, do it again and I'll kill you. The fact that they say not a word is also scary. Poor Turkey was looking for someone to talk to and this dude up and cuts him with a smirk on his face. Then it is as if they all appear out of the dark and fog turning 1 into hundreds. Once Turkey falls to his death, they move on as if nothing happened or they are satisfied with their 'kill'. I know that it was a gang movie, but the Ducky Boys were almost like a hoard of zombies thirsty for blood but in a 'gang' sort of way.

Read Richard Prices novel. The priest was a Ducky Boy in his youth. He had his share of violence. He also most likely gave a few Duckys some of those scars and welts. He wasn't afraid to take them into his chambers and procede with punishment for sins. Great novel. A must read if you love the movie.
