Their debut album - "We'll Live And Die In These Towns" - was released on the 9th of July 2007. This went straight to number one in the UK. Since the band headlined the NME "Rock N Roll Riot" tour supported by The Wombats and Lethal Bizzle. In March/April the band conducted their first tour, playing two sold out nights at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

6) The Enemy was a 1980s British punk band that formed in their local youth club, with several changes of personnel before they stabilized the following year as Mark Woodhouse (vocals), Steve "Mez" Mellors (guitar), Steve O'Donnell (bass), and Mark Herrington (drums). They played their first gig at Woodlands Youth Centre, and landed a support slot on Anti Pasti's gig in Huddersfield. They recorded their first single, "50,000 Dead" at Old Cottage Studios in Derby, releasing it on their own Tin Tin label. The single was quite successful and led to the band being signed to Fall Out Records, debuting on the label with "Fallen Hero" in May 1982, which reached number 44 in the UK Indie Chart. "Fallen Hero", an anti-war song, was also included on the Punk and Disorderly volume 2 compilation which reached the indie top 10. The band's third single was less successful, and Mellor was replaced by Kevin Lamb of local punk band Total Loss, who livened up the band's live performances.
Debut album Gateway to Hell was issued in 1983 to much critical acclaim and respectable sales. Herrington left the band before the album was released, to be replaced by Dave Hill. The band toured around Britain in support of the album, but were dropped by Fall Out, and moved to the local Rot label (run by Riot Squad's Dunk) for their next single, "Last But Not Least", which was followed by an album of the same name (now featuring a fifth member, lead guitarist Phil Maw), with tracks split between a live recording from The Bierkeller in Leeds and studio tracks recorded at Cargo Studios in Rochdale. The album turned out to be The Enemy's final release, with disappointing sales and musical differences prompting the band to call it a day.
Drummer Dave Herrington is still involved in music, having worked with Apes Pigs & Spacemen, Neil Finn, and Johnny Marr, and as a member of Arnold.

7)The Enemy was a side project of Australian musician David Thrussell of Snog, the album 'We Are The Enemy' was released in 2007.

Help me break this down from off the shelf
Here's a music servin' you so use it
Papa's got a brand new funk
Get down (party for your right)
Huh, let's get it on
Like we said before
They say the brothers causin' trouble
'Cause we rumble
From our lower level
To condition your condition
(We're gonna do a song)
That you never heard before
Make you all jump along to the education
Brothers gonna work it out
And stop chasin'
Brothers, brothers gonna work it out
[Chorus]
You got it what it takes
Go get it where you want it?
Come get it get involved
'Cause the brothers in the street are willing to work it out
So many of us in limbo
How to get it on, it's quite simple
Three stones from the sun
We need a piece of this rock
Our goal indestructible soul
Answers to this quizzin'
To the Brothers in the streetSchools and the prisons
History shouldn't be a mystery
Our stories real history
Not his story
We gonna work it one day
Till we all get paid
The right way in full, no bull
Talkin', no walkin', drivin', arrivin' in style
Soon you'll see what I'm talkin' 'bout
'Cause one day
The brothers gonna work it out
Brothers, brothers gonna work it out
[Chorus]
You got it what it takes
Go get it where you want it?
Come get it get involved
'Cause the brothers in the street
Are willing to work it out
Let's get it on we are willin'
Let's get it on, let's get it on we are willin'
Let's get it on, let's get it on, let's get it on we are willin'
Now we are ready if you are ready
In 1995, you'll twist to this
As you raise your fist to the music
United we stand, yes divided we fall
Together we can stand tall
Brothers that try to work it out
They get mad, revolt, revise, realize
They're super bad
Small chance a smart brother's
Gonna be a victim of his own circumstance
Sabotaged, Shellshocked, rocked and ruled
Day in the life of a fool
Like I said before to live it low
Life take you time, time yo go slow
Look here, not a thing to fear
Brother to brother not another as sincere
Teach a man how to be father
To never tell a woman he can't bother
You can't say you don't know
What I'm talkin' 'bout
But one day brothers gonna work it out
You got it what it takes
Go get it where you want it?
Come get it get involved
'Cause the brothers in the street
Are willing to work it out
Let's get it on we are willin'
Let's get it on, let's get it on we are willin'
Let's get it on, let's get it on, let's get it on we are willin'
Now we are ready if you are ready
The song "Brothers Gonna Work it Out" by The Enemy is a call to action for brothers, meaning African American men, to work together to achieve their goals and overcome the barriers they face. The lyrics speak to the struggles and injustices that they have faced throughout history, including being stereotyped as causing trouble and being incarcerated at high rates. The song encourages listeners to learn from the real history of their people and to unite to create change.
The opening verse of the song references James Brown's "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag," which is fitting as James Brown was an important figure in the African American community and was known for his social commentary in his music. The line "from our lower level to condition your condition" is a reference to Public Enemy's track "Don't Believe the Hype," which speaks to the power of controlling narratives and misinformation.
The chorus encourages listeners to take action and get involved in the fight for change, using the phrase "brothers in the street" to emphasize the idea that it is up to the people to create change, rather than waiting for authorities to do so. The term "limbo" in the second verse is used to describe the feeling of being stuck or in a state of uncertainty, likely relating to the ongoing struggle for equality.
Overall, "Brothers Gonna Work it Out" is a powerful and hopeful call to action for African American men to come together and create change in their communities and society at large.
