I'll Be There
The Escape Club Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Over Mountains
Over Trees
Over Oceans
Over Seas
I'll be there

In a whisper on the wind
On the smile of a new friend
Just think of me
And I'll be there

Don't be afraid, oh my love
I'll be watching you from above
And I'd give all the world tonight,
To be with you
Because I'm on your side,
And I still care
I may have died,
But I've gone nowhere

Just think of me,
And I'll be there

On the edge of a waking dream
Over Rivers
Over Streams
Through Wind and Rain
I'll be there

Across the wide and open sky
Thousands of miles I'd fly
To be with you
I'll be there

Don't be afraid, oh my love
I'll be watching you from above
And I'd give all the world tonight,
To be with you
Because I'm on your side,
And I still care
I may have died,
But I've gone nowhere

Just think of me,
And I'll be there

In the breath of a wind that sighs
Oh, there's no need to cry

Just think of me,
And I'll be there

Overall Meaning

The Escape Club's song "I'll Be There" is about the love between two people that transcends physical distance and death. The lyrics begin with the singer promising to be there for their loved one no matter the physical barriers, as they can be present in whispers and smiles. The song then takes a more poignant turn as the singer tells their love not to be afraid, as they will watch over them from beyond the grave.

The song emphasizes the depth of the singer’s feelings, as they state they would "give all the world tonight, to be with you” - expressing a love so powerful that it can only be understood as completely selfless. The singer reassures their love that, even in death, they remain on their side and continue to care for them.

The chorus repeats the phrase "just think of me, and I'll be there" as a reminder that the singer will always be present with their love in one form or another, such as in dreams or in memories. The song closes on a hopeful note, with the singer saying there's no need to cry, as they are always watching over their love, present in the breath of a sighing wind.

Even though I am an atheist. I give this song poetic license. Such a beautiful song.

My wife recommended this song to me shortly before she passed away recently. It had given her great strength dealing with her mom's death years ago. She knew that she was leaving and that I would need something to hang on to for strength to get through her passing. She was so right (like she always was).

I see these comments in every "inspirational" song and most of them are from attention trolls trying to get likes but I feel your story is true. I don't know how I know but I do. Bless your heart.
