Gimme Some Lovin'
The European Choir And Orchestra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey!

Well my temperature's rising and my feet on the floor
Twenty people rockin' and there wanna go more
Let me in baby, I don't know what you've got
but you'd better take it easy, this place is hot

So glad we made it
So glad we made it
You gotta

Gimme some lovin' (Gimme some lovin')
Gimme some lovin' (Gimme gimme some lovin')
Gimme some lovin'
Everyday
Hey hey

Hey!

Well I feel so good, everything is sellin' high
You'd better take it easy cause the place is on fire
It's been a hard day and I don't know what to do
We made it baby and it happened to you
And I'm

So glad we made it
So glad we made it
You gotta

Gimme some lovin' (Gimme some lovin')
Gimme some lovin' (Gimme gimme some lovin')

Gimme some lovin'
Everyday

Now, let’s find out what the Latin lyrics actually translate to in English (feel free to chant along in your head, it’s quite catchy – albeit intense).

Here are the lyrics in Latin:

O Fortuna
Velut luna
Statu variabilis
Semper crescis
Aut decrescis;
Vita detestabilis
Nunc obdurat
Et tunc curat
Ludo mentis aciem,
Egestatem,
Potestatem
Dissolvit ut glaciem.
Sors immanis
Et inanis,
Rota tu volubilis
Status malus,
Vana salus
Semper dissolubilis,
Obumbrata
Et velata
Michi quoque niteris;
Nunc per ludum
Dorsum nudum
Fero tui sceleris.
Sors salutis
Et virtutis
Michi nunc contraria,
est affectus
et defectus
semper in angaria.
Hac in hora
Sine mora
Corde pulsum tangite;
Quod per sortem
Sternit fortem,
Mecum omnes plangite!

Here they are again, translated into English:

O Fortune,
like the moon
you are changeable,
ever waxing,
ever waning,
hateful life
first oppresses
and then soothes
as fancy takes it;
poverty
and power
it melts them like ice
fate – monstrous
and empty,
you whirling wheel,
you are malevolent,
well-being is vain
and always fades to nothing,
shadowed
and veiled
you plague me too;
now through the game
I bring my bare back
to your villainy
fate is against me
in health
and virtue,
driven on
and weighted down,
always enslaved.
so at this hour
without delay
pluck the vibrating strings;
since Fate
strikes down the strong man,
everyone weep with me!

Everytime I watch this I am in awe at the professionalism of the choir. I would have just fallen down laughing at the salsa and windmill cookies part.

I laughed until my mouth hurt. Quando ridebam ad malum oris mei.

lincolnlobster

I’m sure they did plenty of that in rehearsals.

Dermacrosis I know, right? I was laughing my ass off through the whole thing! It kinda reminds me of when I was in high school choir and we were singing this German lullaby; my teacher would sometimes tell us to think of hints to remember the correct pronunciation of some of the words. While I looked at one of the words and thought of the Schwartz from Space Balls, my teacher said, "think this: it sounds like "she farts!"
Needless to say, it took us all a while to get past that word without giggling or breaking down into uncontrollable laughter. Man, I miss those days!🤣

I like how some of the singers were really into it, while others were like 'wtf am I singing'

I'm sorry but I couldn't hold a straight face while singing this

My precious 😃

I know, but actually, wtf am I singing?

@Martha Beth Lewis they actually are in fact singing the misheard lyrics version. If you don’t believe me, skip to the part where it says “they wrote the dictionary” then listen to the original and get to that part. It’s totally different
