Kasabian Vs. The Chemical Brothers? Primal Scream Vs. Oasis. The Exits’ upbeat mix of synth rock seems unlikely, but has already caught the attention of a sect of hardcore supporters in the South coast and beyond.
By late 2007 the band had already performed at the HI FI South Festival, the Primal Scream end of tour after show party, and supported sets from indie legends like Bez (Happy Mondays, Black Grape), and Mani (The Stone Roses, Primal Scream) to name but a few. Less than modest names for a modest bunch of lads.
Energetic and passionate, their electro rock is just finding its growing fanbase and more recently seen a number of sold out shows including the Brixton Jamm, The Wedgewood Rooms and the Portsmouth Guildhall.
In late 2007 the band struck a publishing deal with independent publisher Seeca Music. Soon after, in February 2008, The Exits signed a record deal with London based independent record label, Criminal Records and are currently working on their debut album.
The band’s sound continually evolves from guitar based with a smattering of electronica, to a heavy synthesised, dance orientated audio assault.
The Exits debut single ’Neon City’ and self-titled EP was released earlier this year (2008) through Criminal Records (Universal / AM / THE). The Exits received front page HMV exposure in recommended releases, 7digital track of the week and newsletter feature, iTunes exclusive, plus a Bebo video featuring receiving over 100,000 views. In addition they have excellent reviews and immense radio support, including BBC London, Radio 1 Northern Ireland, Kerrang Radio (ones to watch), plus a music award for ‘Best Song 2008’ presented at an awards ceremony by Portsmouth FM in their hometown.

Fever
The Exits Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's time to stop the show
And show you how to flow right on
It's coming live like a flash
On the other side lift your hands and let me hear you dash
Bring up the sound and let it rise
Because this big fat jam will take you by surprise
It's just another rough move
So get your groove on and get a move on
And make it last to the way we slam this song
I rock a rhyme and let it last and show you mad styles
Because the flavours high and fly
It's time to show you how to flow
And move your big fat butt down on the dance floor
I hear the fever that you're bringing
It's just another song in your ear that I'm singing
So let me show you how we swing it
It's time to make a stance and let the jam meet face to face
Just like I showed you in the past
I brake it right down wid a rhyme to make it last
It's just another funky jam taken from the Bee Gee's
Set to make you jump and scan
I got the flavour and you know it come and check the sound
Because the big bands going down
So brake it down one and get this song on
I want to know are your feelings flowing strong
And if it is so I want to know Joe
Let's take it back to where the old school knows
It's just a rhythm and a rhyme makin' it live
And coming back on a funky line
I hear the fever that you're bringing
It's just another song in your ear that I'm singing
Now that the party's in affect all the ladies
Let me hear you say shake that thang
Now that you're standing on the set all the ladies
Let me hear you say shake that thang
Now that the party's in affect all the ladies
Let me hear you say shake that thang
Now that you're standing on the set all the ladies
Let me hear you say shake that thang
Now that the party's in affect
It's time to let it flow
The Exits's song "Fever" is a lively and energetic track that encourages listeners to get up and dance. The lyrics focus on the party atmosphere and the desire to get everyone moving to the beat. The opening lines are a call to action, asking for the "honey wid the big butts" to come to the dance floor and show off some moves. The song then goes on to describe the excitement and intensity of the music, with the "big fat jam" taking listeners by surprise. Throughout the song, the lyrics encourage participation and engagement, asking for hands to be lifted and for people to "shake that thang."
The track also pays tribute to the old school hip-hop sound that influenced The Exits, with references to "mad styles" and the use of a Bee Gees sample. The chorus, which repeats the line "I hear the fever that you're bringing," emphasizes the infectious nature of the music and the way it can bring people together.
