Bram (Vocal, Guitar), the youngest member, He decided to start to play guitar when he was 14years old, just by the first time when he saw Jimi Hendrix's Vcd.
Daud (Back Vocal, Drum). he start to play drum at the age of 14. John Henry Bonham (Led Zeppelin), inspired him to play a bit louder and harder.
The Experience Brothers choose 'Modern Psychedelic Rock Blues' as their music genre.

Thanks, Matthew! I should clarify that I didn’t work year round during those 18 years. Most of the writing happens during the summers, when I’m not teaching, though I’m sometimes able to get some done during semesters too. Hey Philip, Popping in on this post late to say how exciting it was to watch! I did see it on the day it appeared, but I was away home so watched it on my phone (not too conducive to typing a comment for this old technophobe). It stirs all of the feels for me, seeing you starting to reap the benefits of all of your years of work.

Speaking of those years, the more I learn, the more I see that we have in common. I, too, began in '04, though I didn't officially get any prose on the page till '05. I also started with a map, and place names, and several months worth of research. (Unlike you and Tolkien, my cartography skills are decidedly lacking--it's the very element that's delaying my ARC, as I've hired an artist to recreate my amateurish efforts, and have my fingers crossed that I'll see something in the coming days.) I live in a fairly isolated area, but we have three little libraries within a 20 mile drive. I read every book on my chosen era and region--indeed, even those tangential to it--in all three libraries, before I started. It's funny, I remember feeling unready, like I needed to do more research before I started. But I instinctively knew the research could become endless (for me), and that I just needed to get on with it. It didn't take long for the characters to take over. I've found gaining a grasp on human behavior and the craft of writing fiction to be far more challenging to the pursuit than any semblance of historical expertise.

Anyway, it's been such a pleasure to watch this part of your journey play out. From where I sit, it seems like you're hitting every note perfectly. I'm wishing you the very best as you forge ahead. Thanks for sharing this!

I mentioned in the video Will & Ed did about your book that when Ed said it reminded him of a Tolkien-esque world with David Gemmell characters that that made me want to get my hands on this book once it's out, 100%! Huge fan of both authors, and though you've never read Gemmell, his characters are grimmer, gritter and more flawed than more classic fantasy characters for example, but not as depraved as the characters we sometimes have in more modern fantasy.

So glad to hear such high praise for your book Professor! So jealous on the Brothers Gwynne (plus Mark Lawrence and Doc AP) to get to be beta-readers for you! Currently reading “Legend” by Gemmell and while the book clearly comes the 80s, I was genuinely positively surprised by the humanity and motivations given even to some minor characters and antagonists (given that a lot of the covers look like it could have been a feature in the “Heavy Metal” 1980s movie or having “Man-O-War” as its soundtrack), so you should take that as high praise from the Brothers Gwynne that your characters reminded them of him!

@Philip Chase I especially look forward to your book as someone who also has some history with South Asia and the British Isles (of course not to your extent, I respect my Elders too much to dare to claim anything close to it!).

Love your summary of “Buddhist Beowulf”, which in my mind gives me the image of a Anglosaxon/Norse/Celtic version of “Journey to the West” (I know it is Chinese story, but then again also is quite fun in how to it tries to square off the Pacifism of Buddhism and “The Big Darn Action Heroes” of both Hindu and Daoist Origin), and Beowulf doing some EXTREME meditating while mentally battling sea monsters, trolls and dragons, oh my!

Ha ha! That would have been good comedy, I suppose. I would not have needed to feign disappointment, at any rate. Fortunately for me, the kind and keenly perceptive Brothers Gwynne reached a different verdict. If my agent succeeds in finding a publisher, my guess is the book would be available on Kindle. I think that's pretty standard these days, so I'll venture a "yes"!
