Why nobody is blaming Disney? They're greedy and want more sales in China. If Disney was not acting in their own interest but consumer interest, then they should stick to principles and values. But of course, we like to blame China when the sales there represent such a small scale. The movie flopped over there anyways.

If they don't enter the Chinese market but their competitors do, they will lose to them on the international market due to the huge profits they are making in China. And the same rule applies to countries. China simply knows it has the upper hand because if any country dares to "offense" them they will simply pressure them and threat them with sanctions. And if the country gets sanctionized the companies go on the fence because of lost profits and the citizens go on the fence because they can't get their cheap products from China anymore.

A great example is Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One in Doctor Strange. Since the CCP wouldn’t allow a main character to be Tibetan like in the comics they cast a white actress instead. Marvel said it was to “do away with the racist stereotypes of the original comics” and last year changed to saying something about it being about system racism they needed to address internally. They prefer to claim that racism influences their casting than going against Beijing, which is horrifying

Physical technology for censorship can also be exported to like minded states such as: Belarus, Eritrea, North Korea or Myanmar. These countries too want to embrace digitisation but at the same control what things their citizens can and cannot do. Would Taliban not love software/hardware package that would allow boys and girls to access different content or surveillance network with AI/facial recognition to spot who may be gay based on gait/facial expressions/record of association with others?

I understand the CCP has done it in Russia, Central Asia, Africa and, to an extent, Bolivia as part of their One Belt One Road thing (that is, provide technology and trainings so that anti-democratic governments can crush disidents).

In other words, to the extent that countries temporarily sway away from human rights and democracy, the Chinese government will move in to ensure the change is permanent.

One funny thing about "whataboutism", other than that the comparisons are ridiculously off, is that a global order run by a democracy that, despite flaws, (largely) recognizes human rights is preferable over CCP ambitions several times over and that the lifestyle that I, for example, enjoy just for operating within a (largely) meritocratic system, starting with basic things like having clean air to breathe, surpasses several times over the living conditions of these angry wumaos/xiaofense - whereas, as it was shown in the "Lonely Fly" China Uncensored episode, all their efforts won't prevent them from becoming a victim of their own government.

The problem with the china issue is they go overboard, if they don't like one movie they can ban the whole company indefinitely. If they see a wrong map, they can ban the whole clothing company. They are basically flexing their 'power' and 'influence' around the world, bullying the world.

@Shiny49 If you notice, there are very few of them actually on a channel, some are just straight out bots that never respond, some uses multiple accounts, sometimes someone else comes up to defend fellow troll. It is possible that they are sitting next to each other in some office. One new thing they are doing now, they are using hacked, stolen, unused old accounts to look legitimate.

@Follower of Pooh (tsm1989) I still have the theory that those "national chinese citizens" that comment on china-critizing videos are actually officers/agents from the ministry for censorship. Ironically - because all of those videos get blacklisted anyways - it would be pretty efficient for them to simply open the most trending/viewed videos from the blacklist and post their pro china propaganda on those videos.

China wanted the character Finn removed from the newer Star Wars movies. LucasFilm refused to change the character, but the image of Finn on the Chinese promotional posters was shrunk to almost being impossible to see. It was ridiculous.
