The Expos Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
So I look which way the river is flowing.
I kick my feet, the path untrodden
But my footsteps, they will soon not be forgotten.
I can't decide which way I'm going
So I look which way the river is flowing.
I kick my feet, the path untrodden
The lyrics to The Expos's song 'On The Road' speak to the theme of uncertainty in life. The singer is struggling to make a decision about which path to take, and instead of figuring it out on their own, they look to the river for guidance. This could be interpreted as the singer feeling lost and searching for direction. The line "I kick my feet, the path untrodden" suggests that the singer is taking a risk and going down an uncharted path. However, they acknowledge that their footsteps will eventually be remembered, implying that they will leave a lasting impression regardless of which path they choose.
This song could be interpreted in different ways depending on the listener's personal experiences. It could be a reflection on the struggles of adulthood, career choices, or finding one's purpose in life. The river could represent the flow of life, and the singer's decision to follow it could suggest letting go of control and allowing life to take its course.
