The band consists of Clark Baechle, Todd Fink (formerly known as Todd Baechle), and Joel Petersen. They signed to Saddle Creek Records and released a few singles, but were unable to establish widespread sales, though they were extremely popular in the Omaha-area. After adding Matt Bowen, The Faint released Media, which established them within a small, national community of fans. While touring, Bowen left and was replaced by Jacob Thiele who helped move the next album, Blank-Wave Arcade, towards a more dance and electronica influenced sound. The album was an underground hit. Partway through the creation of the morose Danse Macabre, The Faint added Dapose, a death metal guitarist formerly of LEAD. Danse Macabre was also a critical and commercial success and has helped to establish a wider fanbase for the band. Their 4th album, released in 2004, is called Wet from Birth.
In 2002 bassist Joel Petersen released the first album from his solo project, Broken Spindles, and he has since released two subsequent albums and had a U.S. tour. Guitarist Dapose also has a side-project, Vverevvolf Grehv, releasing his first album in 2008.
On December 12th, 2005, The Faint announced that they have moved out of The Orifice (a rented out warehouse they used to record Wet from Birth) and into ENAMEL, a 100-year-old building where they recorded the tracks for their next album, Fasciinatiion.

Drop Kick the Punks
The Faint Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Viscious counter pop erosion revolution 101.
Drop kick the punks.
We want a change.
Blaspheme the pop.
Call out the freaks.
Pay off the jockeys,
Queue up the news reporting company trucks.
Hoist the antenna - pirate the waves.
Dust off the tables and broadcast the plates.
Amp the fly trap plant called venus and jab a cold fork in the speaker.
Ah were force fed pop cultures shit.
We're staying up late thinking "what the fuck is this?".
Eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben, acht,
Viscious counter pop erosion revolution 101.
The Faint's song Drop Kick the Punks is a punk-rock anthem that criticizes the mainstream pop culture and the commercialization of music industry. The first line of the song, "Eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben, acht," is a German countdown, which was used by German soldiers to signal the start of a military exercise. The song starts with "Viscious counter pop erosion revolution 101," which suggests that the counter culture movement was a reaction to the commercialization of pop culture.
The chorus, "Drop kick the punks. We want a change. Blaspheme the pop. Call out the freaks. Pay off the jockeys, then call the cops. Queue up the news reporting company trucks," is a rallying cry for a revolution against the establishment. The line, "Pay off the jockeys, then call the cops," suggests that the mainstream media is controlled by corporate interests that are not interested in promoting alternative perspectives.
The second verse, "Hoist the antenna - pirate the waves. Dust off the tables and broadcast the plates. Amp the fly trap plant called venus and jab a cold fork in the singer," urges the listeners to take matters into their own hands and create alternative media channels. The lyrics suggest that the establishment uses media as a means of control and that the only way to counter it is by starting a pirate radio station or creating other alternative media channels.
Overall, Drop Kick the Punks is an empowering song that urges the listeners to take action against the mainstream pop culture and create new avenues of expression. It highlights the importance of counter culture and urges people to take charge of their own lives.

Anybody else play the tie-in flash game way back in like 2004?
Regardless, this album defined my late teenage years. It's pure gold.

@SG21337 There was an old flash game called Dropkick the Faint. You played a punk that ran out on stage and dropkicked all the members of the band. It was insane!
