The band consists of Clark Baechle, Todd Fink (formerly known as Todd Baechle), and Joel Petersen. They signed to Saddle Creek Records and released a few singles, but were unable to establish widespread sales, though they were extremely popular in the Omaha-area. After adding Matt Bowen, The Faint released Media, which established them within a small, national community of fans. While touring, Bowen left and was replaced by Jacob Thiele who helped move the next album, Blank-Wave Arcade, towards a more dance and electronica influenced sound. The album was an underground hit. Partway through the creation of the morose Danse Macabre, The Faint added Dapose, a death metal guitarist formerly of LEAD. Danse Macabre was also a critical and commercial success and has helped to establish a wider fanbase for the band. Their 4th album, released in 2004, is called Wet from Birth.
In 2002 bassist Joel Petersen released the first album from his solo project, Broken Spindles, and he has since released two subsequent albums and had a U.S. tour. Guitarist Dapose also has a side-project, Vverevvolf Grehv, releasing his first album in 2008.
On December 12th, 2005, The Faint announced that they have moved out of The Orifice (a rented out warehouse they used to record Wet from Birth) and into ENAMEL, a 100-year-old building where they recorded the tracks for their next album, Fasciinatiion.

Let The Poisin Spill
The Faint Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When they talk it's cold and sour
And no, there's nothing they can do now
They've had their way too many times
If you glare to get what you want
It'll become your look
If there's dirt you've got on someone
You let it loose without a thought
[Chorus]
Just let the poison spill
Spurt from your throat
Hiss like steam
Cause the pressure's unreal
I'm not saying it's not
You're causing a scene
You're wearing out that note
You scream until it's gone
You scream until it's gone, gone, gone
No government check can reverse it
You'd need a royal eclipse of the tongue
Or is the pain that you endure now
Something that you need
Well, you know how to get it now
There's no climbing up that list
You just move down it one by one
You hate this and this and love that it shows
You're insecure and that's no excuse
Just tell them they lie
You tell them truth
The things you won't take are coming in groups
The people abused the trust you had
And now you don't want it back
[Chorus]
The Faint's Let The Poison Spill From Your Throat paints a picture of a person who is so consumed by their own bitterness and insecurities that they are willing to let their poisonous thoughts and words spill without any regard for the consequences. The first verse describes how the person's toxic and negative behavior has become a part of their personality, and that they take pleasure in using their words to hurt others. The chorus seems to imply a sense of release and catharsis that the person feels by letting out all the anger and negativity they have inside. The second verse questions whether this behavior is a coping mechanism for the person, and if they are aware of the pain they cause or if they enjoy it. The song ends with an almost nihilistic view of the world, where trust has been broken and the only option seems to be to scream until the anger is gone.
Overall, the song seems to be a commentary on the toxic behavior of individuals who use their words to hurt and manipulate others. The chorus suggests that this behavior is a coping mechanism for the person, and that they derive some satisfaction from releasing their pent-up anger and frustration. However, the song also acknowledges that this behavior is harmful and ultimately destructive in the long run. The lyrics imply that eventually, the person will have no one left to lash out at, and that their bitterness and anger will consume them completely.
