The band consists of Clark Baechle, Todd Fink (formerly known as Todd Baechle), and Joel Petersen. They signed to Saddle Creek Records and released a few singles, but were unable to establish widespread sales, though they were extremely popular in the Omaha-area. After adding Matt Bowen, The Faint released Media, which established them within a small, national community of fans. While touring, Bowen left and was replaced by Jacob Thiele who helped move the next album, Blank-Wave Arcade, towards a more dance and electronica influenced sound. The album was an underground hit. Partway through the creation of the morose Danse Macabre, The Faint added Dapose, a death metal guitarist formerly of LEAD. Danse Macabre was also a critical and commercial success and has helped to establish a wider fanbase for the band. Their 4th album, released in 2004, is called Wet from Birth.
In 2002 bassist Joel Petersen released the first album from his solo project, Broken Spindles, and he has since released two subsequent albums and had a U.S. tour. Guitarist Dapose also has a side-project, Vverevvolf Grehv, releasing his first album in 2008.
On December 12th, 2005, The Faint announced that they have moved out of The Orifice (a rented out warehouse they used to record Wet from Birth) and into ENAMEL, a 100-year-old building where they recorded the tracks for their next album, Fasciinatiion.

Take Me to the Hospital
The Faint Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm going to the doc
I pay him to fix me up
I think I've got enough
No no an ambulance would cost too much
We'll take a van
If they can't fix me no one can
If they can fix me no one can't
Want you to take me to the H, take me to the O
Want you to take me to the S, take me to the P
Want you to take me to the I-T-A-L
Want you to take me to the hospital
Hospital
Now I'm losing blood from my veins
They're slowly emptying
I'm bothered by this crimson red
To the color of blood
To the color of a be, color of a L
To the color of a O, color of O
To the color of a Deep crimson red
From a little-bitty accident
Accident
I scraped up my face
Bounced my cheek on the floor
Cause anything worth doing's worth getting hurt for
I made no mistakes
I'm never learning from that
I've got no regrets
I want to do it again
With the A-G-A-I-N
So you can take me to the H, take me to the O,
Want you to take me to S, take me to the P,
Want you to take me to the I-T-A-L
Want you to take me to the hospital
Cause it's the color of a be, color of a L
To the color of a O, color of O
To the color of a Deep crimson red
From a little bitty accident
[Repeat x2]
Want you to take me to the hospital
The Faint's song "Take Me to the Hospital" is a catchy yet ominous track about a narrator who has experienced some kind of physical trauma and needs medical attention. The lyrics begin with the singer's hand shaking badly as they declare that they need to see a doctor. However, they are hesitant to call an ambulance due to cost concerns and instead suggest taking a van. The singer seems convinced that the doctors will be able to fix them, stating, "If they can fix me, no one can't."
The chorus is a repetition of the singer's request to be taken to the hospital, with each line focused on a different letter from the word "hospital." The singer seems to be fixated on the idea of going to the hospital, almost as if it is the only solution to their problem. The second verse describes the singer losing blood from their veins and being bothered by the color red. They mention having had a "little-bitty accident," which caused them to scrape up their face and bounce their cheek on the floor. Despite this, they express no regrets and claim that they want to do it again. The song closes by repeating the chorus twice with a final plea to be taken to the hospital.
Overall, "Take Me to the Hospital" seems to be a metaphor for something larger than just a physical injury. It could be interpreted as a cry for help, a desire for escape from a stressful situation, or a need for attention. Despite the dark subject matter, the song is still catchy and danceable, which adds to its unsettling quality.
