I Found a Love
The Falcons Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah
I found a love, I found a love
I found a love that I need, oh yeah
I found a kiss I just wanna tell you that I can't resist
I found a love that I need, oh yeah
& I wanna call her now

Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah
Wait a minute; one thing I wanna say right here
The way that woman walks, she set my soul on fire
The way she talks, she's my heart's desire
& oh she leave me, I think that I would die
Sometime I'll call her in the midnight hour

Yeah yeah (scream) don't leave me baby
Yeah yeah (scream) yeah yeah, yeah

Overall Meaning

The Falcons' song "I Found a Love" is a classic soul tune that delves into the singer's feelings of discovering a new love. The song begins with the singer jubilantly declaring that he has finally found the love he needs. The repeated "yeah yeahs" followed by the passionate verses and chorus create an infectious groove that allows the listener to feel the singer's joy.

As the song progresses, the singer becomes more personal in his description of his newfound love. He talks about a kiss that he "can't resist" which expresses the singer's passion and desperation for the love of his life. This sequence is followed by a bridge that describes how important the woman is to the singer. He points out how her walk and talk set his "soul on fire" and how she is the epitome of what he desires.

I can't believe I found the first record that touched my little 16 year old heart in 1962! This song brought tears to my eyes...there was so much feeling. I must say that I was genuinely surprised when I keyed the title on YouTube and it was really there..this version as well as with Wilson Pickett. Yes it still moves me to tears at 70 years of age. So very soulful and heartfelt. Thank you to YouTube for supplying me all the music of my youth and the memories that accompany them. To borrow a term from this generation ...these guys can Saaaaaang!

I brought this home from a secondhand record store a while back and too sobbed. So much emotion inside this record, it erupts in tears.
