1: Detroit R&B and soul group the Fantastic Four formed in 1965. "Sweet" James Epps, Ralph and Joseph Pruitt, and Wallace Childs were the original members. Childs and Ralph Pruitt later departed, and were replaced by Cleveland Horne and Ernest Newsome. Their first single on Ric-Tic, "The Whole World Is a Stage," was their lone huge hit, peaking at number 6 on the R&B charts in 1967. The next release, "You Gave Me Something (And Everything's Alright)," reached number 12 that same year. Motown eventually purchased Ric-Tic, and they had another Top 20 R&B hit with "I Love You Madly," which came out in 1968 and was also issued on Soul. They enjoyed renewed appeal during the disco era with some singles on Westbound that were moderately successful, among them "Alvin Stone (The Birth & Death of a Gangster)" and "I Got to Have Your Love." Dennis Coffey produced "B.Y.O.F. (Bring Your Own Funk)" in 1979, but didn't have much luck with it. the Fantastic Four have remained active, and released "Working on a Building of Love" in 1990 for Britian's Motorcity label. In 2000, however, the Fantastic Four lost one of its long-time members, Cleveland Horne when he suffered a heart attack and died on April 13, 2000. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide

If This World Were Mine
The Fantastic Four Lyrics

All that I own; you've been so good to me
If this world were mine
I'd give you the flowers, the birds and the bees
For with your love inside me, that would be all I need
If this world were mine
I'd give you anything
With wealth untold, you could have anything
If this world were mine
I'd give you each day so sunny and blue
If you wanted the moonlight, I'd give you that too
If this world were mine
I'd give you anything
Oh baby, you're my consolation
And there's no hesitation
When you want me, honey, just call me
And honey, you're my inspiration
I feel so much sensation
When I'm in your arms, when you squeeze me
And the sky would be blue
As long as you're lovin' me
With you here in my arms
Life is so wonderful
Give me pretty lovin', baby
Give me pretty lovin', honey
Keep on lovin' me
You know I need you, baby
Really, really need you, baby

Being with his partner makes his life wonderful, and the sky would always be blue as long as his partner loves him.

I grew up on Fantastic Four music, too bad Motown did not treat all the groups equal. Some of the greatest soul music came out of Motown.

this is a bold statement, but I think this version has something more than Marvin's; love Marvin, you can immediately tell it's his song, but this version has it

I have followed the Fantastic Four, from the time they were on Ric Tic to the time they recorded "Alvin Stone (the Birth & Death f a Gangster)" and "Got To Have Your Love" but I feel their best work was captured on "The Best of the Fantastic Four" (now on CD) - every song is a gem! - and their latter efforts on 20th Century/Westbound. Unfortunately, after Motown acquired Ric-Tic/Golden World, the only artist they gave the proper attention to was Edwin Starr, so their post "I Love You Madly" singles did not match the quality of what they recorded with Ric-Tic. With respect to this song, I prefer the Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell original as well as the upbeat and very creative version by Zulema.

@pablofallenjedi Let you dad know how much the world love and appreciate the Fantastic Four. They never got their full share of the spotlight and publicity that they deserved because Motown was pushing other groups. The Fantastic Four is still one of the greatest groups of all times!
