Their current, When Good Times Go Good, was released early September 2008.
2) The Fauves were an experimental post-hardcore group consisting of three teens from Glendora, a suburb of Pasadena, CA. “Raw Heart Sound”, originally issued on the now-defunct Redwood Records, was their only release.
3) The Fauves developed out of Jenny and The Cat Club, featuring Dannie Vallely and Grant Morrison on guitars/vocals, Ron Bookless on bass and Willie Mone on drums.
The band existed from 1987 till 1989, playing at various venues around Glasgow and releasing a single: Tortured Soul/October on their own Roger label.
They ceased operations when drummer Willie left because he thought Grant's many Morrissey-influenced songs such as Bully the Boys were "too poofy".
Drummer Eddie Cochrane was recruited as a replacement, but Dannie left soon afterwards to pursue his own sunshine pop vision, and was replaced on lead guitar by former Mixer Ulric Kennedy, newly departed from The Golden Dawn.
This short-lived line-up recorded demos as The March Hares, a name which was later changed to Super 9.
Wendy
The Fauves Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
She's gone, she's gone
Forced myself out of bed this morning
When I woke up I could see wet garden
There's a thing called happiness
And there's a thing that people call denial
I hope it's gonna rain here
Just before the pain sets in.
Turned my head to want something different
Hope she wakes up and finds something missing
If there's a chance for some reunion
If there's a chance you know just where I'll be.
The Fauves's song, Wendy, is a story of unrequited love, denial, and hopelessness. The first few lines suggest that Wendy is in love with someone, but he is either unaware of it or does not reciprocate her feelings. She is so much in love that she disappeared, "she's gone." The singer, in contrast, has to force himself out of bed, suggesting that he is perhaps depressed or struggling with his emotions.
The second verse implies that the singer is thinking about his own happiness and denial, and how the two emotions can intersect. He acknowledges that there is a thing called happiness, but that there is also a thing called denial - perhaps referring to his own denial of his feelings for Wendy, or Wendy's denial of her feelings for him. The mention of rain (twice), suggests a dreary and hopeless mood - the singer appears to be resigned to his fate, but also perhaps hoping for some solace.
The third verse again refers to the singer wanting something different, but also hoping that Wendy will realize what she is missing. He holds onto the possibility of a reunion, and knows where he will be if it happens - indicating that his feelings for Wendy are still strong, and he is hopeful for a chance to be with her.
