1) The Feelers is a New Zealand pop rock band formed in the early 1990s in Christchurch by James Reid (singer/guitarist) and Hamish Gee (drums/guitar). From its formation until 2008, the band consisted of the same members. In 2008, bassist Matt Thomas departed, replaced by Matt Short and shortly after, long-time friend of the band Clint Harris from Opshop joined the band. Andy Lynch, who had played guitar for the band on some previous tours, was added permanently to the line-up in 2006.
The band got a record deal with Warner Music and released their first album, Supersystem, in 1998. It was the second biggest selling album in New Zealand that year.
They later went on to win Album of the Year, Song Writer of the Year (James Reid), Band of the Year, and Producer of the Year (Malcolm Welsford) at the New Zealand Music Awards in 1999.
The band then went into a period of silence until 2001 when their second album Communicate was released. Noted songs from that album include "Communicate", "The Web," and "Fishing for Lisa".
Their 2003 album, Playground Battle, was seen by some as a new direction for the band. Some feel that the band is having difficulty meeting the standards of their first two albums, whilst others view the changes as a sign of the band's musical versatility.
The Feelers have toured extensively around New Zealand, Australia, USA and Europe.
On November 13th 2006, The Feelers released their 4th studio album entitled One World. The album debuted at number one on the New Zealand Album Charts, and also went Platinum in its first week of release.
In 2011, the band released the album Hope Nature Forgives.

The Feelers Lyrics

Come my little venus
Can't you feel, it's in all of us
Like the light, we see you soon give up yourself
And dive into the moon
And I don't mind being with you
Knowing I'm by myself
There's a river in all of us that's dry
There's a river in all of us that's dry
As you are in me
Verse 2:
Come my little venus
Wrapped in shadows, yeah you're one of us
And I hear the footsteps inside your head
Walking, trying to find yourself
I found myself in you
Let me in, let me breathe
Yeah I found myself in you
Oh yeah
Chorus/Bridge:
You scream in silence but I can hear you,
You scream in silence but I can hear you,
You scream in silence but I can hear you,
You scream in silence but I can hear you,
Verse:
Come my little venus can't you feel, can't you feel
Oh now your one of us
Like a light we'll see you soon
give up yourself
Dive into the moon,
I don't mind I don't mind,
Now my venus, my venus, my venus, my venus,
Come my little
Oh my venus, my venus, my venus,
Come my little venus
The Feelers' song "Venus" is a complex and dense exploration of identity, self-discovery, and the human condition. The lyrics paint a picture of a "little venus" who is struggling with a dry, lonely river inside herself, and who is seeking companionship and understanding. The singer of the song offers himself as a willing companion, promising to be there for the little venus, to listen to her screams in silence, and to help her find herself.
The first verse sets the tone for the rest of the song, as the singer speaks directly to the little venus, urging her to take a leap of faith and dive into the moon. He acknowledges that they are both alone, but that they also share a common bond: the dry river inside of them. The light they see in each other becomes a source of hope and inspiration, and the little venus becomes "one of us", a member of a larger community of people trying to find their place in the world. The second verse continues the exploration of identity, as the little venus is described as being "wrapped in shadows" and "walking, trying to find yourself". The singer offers himself as a guide, telling her he has found himself in her and asking her to let him in and breathe.
The chorus/bridge repeats the phrase "You scream in silence but I can hear you" four times, emphasizing the idea that the little venus is struggling with inner demons and feelings of isolation. However, the fact that the singer can hear her scream suggests that there is hope for connection and understanding.
Overall, "Venus" is a complex and powerful song that deals with big themes like identity, connection, and the human condition. The lyrics are open to interpretation and could mean different things to different people, depending on their own experiences and perspectives.

I remember when this song was number 1 in NZ and use to be played on repeat. Now that I'm in the states, it's quite nostalgic. Story of my life, during my early teens.
