First formed in 1987 (under the name "Sonic Undertones"), their output has included at least nine traditional full length albums (two on major labels in the mid 90s), multiple EPs and singles, a live album, and gigs backing Graham Parker since 1996 and on Graham's 2005 release Songs of No Consequence, as well as Tommy Stinson of The Replacements fame.

I grew up in Albany, NY and was fortunate to witness The Figgs during their commercial peak (if you can call it that) of their career. I loved the 'Banda Macho' album and was shocked that Capitol Records didn't make "Bad Luck Sammie" the album's single; instead the dull track "Girl Kill Your Boyfriend" was the single, which made no sense. Either their A&R man at Capitol was an idiot, their manager or was idiot or both. Had this been released as the single, they may have been all over alt rock radio...

I agree, I always wondered why this song didn't get promoted more. It's a killer rock song. I still this record as well as 'Low Fi at Society High."

"Football favorites have always been the Patriots"...perhaps the Figgs should change that line, because Sammie's football favorites have been kicking butt for the past several years! Great song nonetheless...and I agree, the Figgs should have been huge!
