Just weeks after forming, The Filthy Violets recorded their debut album, Lackluster Blvd., and officially released it on Groopease.com, as the first band ever to be featured on the newly created site. Despite only having been together for 2 months, The Filthy Violets were nominated for and won the LA Deli Magazine's Top Emerging Artist of 2010 Fan Poll.
TFV has often been compared to The Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, and The Libertines, for their Brit influenced, guitar-infused, upbeat retro rock. But their musical influences reach as far back as Jeff Buckley and even Jimi Hendrix.
The band is currently planning their first tour and will be on the road for the better part of 2012 to promote Lackluster Blvd. and test out new material for their follow-up album.

Jaunt
The Filthy Violets Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Days alone there were only some
Always prepared our drinks we shared
Same smokes same style same hair
Remember the days
Remember the days
When we could say
I don't need abuse
I need no time to choose
Together we're always amused
Remember the days
Remember the days
They were never the same
Not the same
Not the same
Never the same
Our cars only had two seats
One for you and the other for me
Inside jokes all the time
About the drugs and girls on our minds
On my mind
Remember the days
Remember the days
When we could say
I don't need abuse
I need no time to choose
Together we're always amused
Remember the days
Remember the days
They were never the same
Not the same
Not the same
Never the same
We hated the thought
Of growing apart
Someone else in our cars
But still you can
I know you can
Remember the days
Remember the days
When we could say
I don't need abuse
I need no time to choose
Together we're always amused
Remember the days
Remember the days
They were never the same
Not the same
Not the same
Never the same
Me and you had our way
The Filthy Violets's song Jaunt is a nostalgic and introspective look at a past friendship. The song describes a time of shared experiences when the two friends felt like one. They spent their days together, sharing drinks and cigarettes, and they had a unique inside joke about drugs and girls. The singer reminisces about the days when they didn't need abuse and had no problems choosing to be together, as they were always amused. The memories are bittersweet, as the singer notes that things were never the same after those days.
The lyrics are full of vivid details that paint a picture of a close friendship. The two friends had cars with only two seats, a symbol of their exclusivity. They also had the same style and hair, which suggests that they were almost like mirror images of each other. The inside jokes about drugs and girls also show that they shared a common interest and perhaps a rebellious streak. However, the singer acknowledges that he and his friend couldn't stop growing apart, and there was a fear of someone else taking his place in the car. The message is clear: the memories of those days will always be cherished, but they cannot be relived.
Overall, Jaunt is a poignant and evocative song that captures the essence of a past relationship. The lyrics are simple, yet powerful, and the melody is haunting and slightly melancholic. It's a song that anyone who has lost touch with a friend from their past can relate to.
